I can see where everyone's coming from about their opinions on Wet-Dry World. Yeah, I think it's a little creepy, how quiet the environment is and how bland the backgrounds are. I haven't played the entire level, I quit like ten minutes later, but I agree with all that crap about the drowned town and stuff. But it's cool too.
The 90s was a great time, I swear.
But y'know I kinda like it. It's not my favorite level, oh God no, but it's okay.
The only thing that really rubs me the wrong way is the painting. I don't know why, I really don't, but I don't like the way that painting looks. It's like it gives me depression before I even start the damn level.
For ten minutes anyway.
It's a lot better than the beta version for Peach's Castle, that's for sure. And the whomp things too, when you take a good look at the design.
Am I the only one uncomfortable crushing those things? There's this huge crack in their back, they're being held together by a bandage, and then you just ground pound on the wound and destroy them.
And now that I'm really thinking about it,where the hell does the fortress come from? Did they use that big ass whomp to build it, kinda like how King Bomb-Omb's body was used as a lifeless cannonball?
For Peach's slide, is it just being held up by some weird force? I know it has a foundation and poles and stuff, but when you fall, you can never see where it ends.
Yooo I just realized that everything in the game is in midair-
Except for the outside of the caslte, but you never know what's on the outside of those hills or what's beyond the ocean.
Some of the skyboxes are pretty weird too when you stop to look at them, most specifically Wet-Dry World and the Bowser levels. I heard that WWD's skybox was based on a real place, but if that's the case, then...
Damn I had a really good guess but I forgot it lmao.
Wtf does the Bowser levels even take place?
And CHRIST does Mario dies brutally in this game.
A few of the death animations are okay, falling over, jumping off of cliffs with a terrified scream, having his ass burnt off by flames, that's all good.
But then there's his choking/suffocating animation, where he twitches a couple of times after falling over before dying. And then there's the drowning one (I tested it out by drowning in the fountain in the courtyard.) which actually mad me feel bad for deliberately getting a game over. It's not too surprising to see it, OoT did it too, but it still makes me feel bad.
Gee I'm thinking about this game too much.
Also I don't really need the wing cap to finish the game, do I? Because I don't feel like riding down that slide anymore.
