Being inside the pocket was really wobbly and hot. It was also making me kind of sick. I decided it would be best to get some fresh air before it got worse. Though it was easier said than done. I could barely get my footing before I would end up falling again.
"Mister giant," I said while pushing him at his chest.
"What is it?" he responded back.
"How long is it gonna take before we get there?"
"Well, the thing is..." he paused for a moment. I could feel his heart pound faster. "We won't be there until tomorrow."
Was this guy serious? He was silent after that. I guess he was. I sighed. In that case, I may at least try to climb to the opening. It was hard, but I finally managed to get my head out. I almost screamed at what I saw. With the combination of looking on the ground and my feet not touching the ground, it felt like I was falling. I quickly backed down and gave up.
"What were you doing?" he said kindly.
"If this journey really gonna take that long may I at least sit on your shoulder mister?"
"Oh sure," he said while his fingers came down, pinched me on my stomach, and slowly placed me on his shoulder. I reached out to hold on to his collar. "You're good?"
"Yeah, I'm good mister, thanks." I said in a quiet voice.
He looked over at me displeased... and disappointed? "You can drop the formalities, please just call me Peter."
"You're sure?"
"Yeah, it makes me kinda uncomfortable when you speak to me that way. It kinda gives off the wrong impression. I wanna be your friend, not your superior. Is that okay for me to think?"
I was speechless, no one has ever said that to me. Why is he trying to befriend me, when all he wants is for me to do him a favor? I looked over at his eyes. He was looking at the ground taking deep breaths. His eyes came back to me, giving me a reassuring smile. Cautious I nodded my head and instantly he sighed a big wave of relief, which startled me.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to..." he said before I stopped him.
"It's okay, it's just hard to get used to your size."
"Oh, okay," he said in a low voice. That's when I remembered that I didn't give him my name. I mean, it would be rude for me to know his name while he doesn't know mine.
"By the way Peter," I said with him now looking at me. "My name is Emma"
"Well, nice to meet you Emma." he said while he extended his index finger towards me. I extended my hand in return and we did a handshake.
After that, we were silent for the next few minutes. It wasn't a problem for me since I'm used to not talking. Instead I would get lost in thought, think about my life and it was first then that it really settled in. I was free. I would no longer have to abide by my master, no he is not my master anymore. That's when I really looked around and saw in awe the view. I was meters from the ground where I was taller than fully grown trees and the lakes looked like huge poodles.
"You seem to be enjoying the view." he said with a smirk.
"I am," I said before yawning. I moved so I was laying down on his shoulder and with time I slowly dozed off.
