I felt warm, wrapped up in a thick blanket. There were some distant noises not too far away. They sounded familiar, but like it was coming from someone else. Opening my eyes I found myself in an ominous bedroom. The windows were covered and the room was lifeless, tidied up like a rich guy's house.
It all came to me, what happened before I blacked out. I pull up my shirt seeing white bandages wrapped around my side. With caution I first touched it. My hand retracted as I felt a sudden strike. I paused for a moment before placing it back on. One by one I began to peel it off to see the damage. Unveiling it my hands started to shake. The wound was sewed together tight. I looked like a professional had done it. It was beginning to heal up, meaning I must have been out for a few days.
The noises became louder and louder, they were definitely headed for this room. With no time to find a good hiding place I ran to the edge and slided off, pressing my body against the wall and the nightstand.
The door opened.
"Oh shoot, where is she!" he said. Furniture started moving around and things got tossed around.
I felt the nightstand moving, where I screamed in response. He heard it and stopped in an instant.
"There you are!" he said. I was panting from the shock and I heard his breath do the same. "Are you gonna get out of there or what?" he said as I started shaking. Then came silence. He sighed. "Like I said when I found you, I'm not gonna hurt you, alright. Just come out,"
I mustered up the courage and started climbing up. I looked up, seeing his face in more detail. He appeared older than Peter, around 10 to 15 years more or so. He was wearing finer cloths, had a stern face but with gentle jade colored eyes. "You shouldn't be moving too much or you will open up the wound."
"I'm sorry, I just got scared and..." I stopped, as his hand got closer.
"Don't mention it, just get on the blankets and stay there. Can I get a small look at the wound?" he asked. I hesitated, but pulled my shirt up. "I can see you have looked at it. It's not as bad as it seems, it should heal up after 2 weeks... Yeah, I'm done,"
I sit down, feeling warm and fluffy in the giant blanket. He cleans the mess he made trying to find me and pulls the curtains of revealing a bright evening outside."I'm gonna bring your lunch out,"
"Wait!" I interrupted before he left the room. "I haven't got your name yet."
"Oh, how rude of me, my name is Haelan."
"Emma, nice to meet you," I said as I took my hand out. He pinched my hand with his index finger and thumb.
"Before I leave, does the name Peter ring any bells?" he asked as he was standing at the doorframe.
"Yeah, it does... why?"
"While I carried you home, you began pleading for his name."
"... he is my father figure, I mean caretaker. I have been living with him for a while now..." I said, scared how he was gonna respond.
"Emma, he is sleeping in the other room, do you wanna see him?"
"...Yeah, I do,"
