Ch. 6 - His house

I woke up feeling warm and well-rested. I looked around to see that I was in a new place, an enormous old cottage that seemed empty. My body was laying on a giant pillow with a scarf covering me like a blanket. The pillow itself was placed on a bed. Around me was looking to be a normal household except that it was a mess. Clothes were on the floor, over tables and chairs and most drawers had their items all over the place. I couldn't believe that this was how he lived if this was his house, which I now really hoped it was.
"Well since I don't know where I am and no one seems to be home, I might as well take a look around."

I began to crawl my way down from the pillow onto the soft bed. When I made it to the edge I started to slowly suspend myself down with the help from the sheets. Once down I began heading for the door on the opposite side of the room. The door was closed, but luckily there was a big enough gap for me to squeeze under.
On the other side was a smaller hallway. It was still huge but smaller than the bedroom. There were two other doors in there. One by the side that smelled so horrible that I didn't even bother to check what was inside.
"It was properly the bathroom, but holy moly what did he do in there for the smell to be so bad," I said while pinching my nose.
The other door was at the front with a more pleasant smell coming from in there. As I walked towards it I started to hear muffled noises. I began to become a bit nervous but I still decided to continue. Once I got under and through I was greeted to an even more enormous room. A living room was present and far back was Peter in a modest kitchen. He was facing the other way bending over something. I wanted to get a closer look so I began moving forward while still hiding behind whatever was nearest. Behind furniture legs or even against the wall if there was nothing else.

The closest I could get without being in plain sight was behind the counter of the kitchen. I poked my head out to see that he was leaning over a giant pot that was heating over a fire. Even from down here, I could smell that it was delicious. So much so that my stomach made a loud growl. He looked around confused until his eyes landed on me before I retreaded my head back. He laughed out loud before I started to hear him moving. Suddenly he was in front of me.
"What are you doing down there? Wait, how did you get in here?" He said in a concerned but gentle voice.
"Well, I was curious and it looked like no one was home, and it seems I was wrong about that," I replied with the last part being said in more of a mumble. I was a little embarrassed but wasn't quite sure why. "But yeah, I just explored a little until I ended up here."
After I said that he slowly got on one knee and lowered his hand so it was laying in front of me. He gave me a reassuring smile and with that, I hopped over to his hand. He lifted me up to the counter and once I got off he returned to the pot.
"Don't worry it's almost done," he said while steering it around.
"While you are doing that, can you tell me what happened to your room?" I said in a confident voice.
"The mess, it's because before I was heading out to the human realm I was still missing something..." he said while rubbing his neck with his hand. "So in the process of trying to find it, that happened."

There was a short moment of silence between the two of us. Both of us looked like we were trying to say something. I just broke out first.
"So, you remember the point in you bringing me here? You know the favor..." I began but before I could finish he interrupted me.
"Hey Emma, the food is ready. Aren't you gonna eat now?" he spouted out.
"Um, sure I can eat now," I said returning to his hands. He moved me over to a table and began to prep it all so we could eat. While he was doing that I started to think. Is he trying to avoid the question, but why though? That's the entire reason he brought me here. The only reason he cared right?
"Hey, what's wrong, you look sad?" He said when he starts to sit on a chair. I look up to see his eyes have turned to the same midnight blue as yesterday.
"It's silly okay, don't worry about it..."
"Please Emma I may have only met you yesterday, but I can tell when you are lying," he said in a sincere voice. His hand started to reach for me. His fingers carefully wrapped around me, but making sure that my arms were free. Gently he lifted me up so we were at eye level. "It's in your eyes, you are holding something in,"
"It's just that I started to bond with you and all, but then I got reminded of why I'm here. I have a favor to repay and when it's done I'm out."
"Do you want more than that?" he asked me sincerely.
"Is it wrong for me to think that?" I reply looking for answers in his eyes. He gives a small smile and began to stroke my chin.
"I'm glad you said that because I started to feel the same way with you."
