The wind started to increasingly sting into my bones. My body was shaking violently thanks to the unforgiving cold. While I was walking around the grass that was taller than me, I kept on clinging to my crossbow. If anything dangerous would come around I would be ready to shoot in the matter of seconds. My nerves were on point especially since the branches and leafs let very few rays of moonlight shine down to the ground. The different hoots from the owls and loud crickets wasn't helping with my nerves. My path was going around the trees, making sure my body was as much hidden behind the plants as possible.

Maybe this wasn't such a good idea. No you have to keep on going. Peter has done so much for me, the least I can do for him is this. I just had to find some catnip. That would help him with the cold so it doesn't get worse. This was a giant forest, even if I were normal sized, so it was bound to have some. Though because of that this was gonna take much longer than i expected. I kept searching and searching, but it was nowhere in sight for my small peripheral area, which increasingly made it more gruelling for every passing moment.

"Oh, my I finally found it!" I applaud to myself when I saw it a few meters in front of me. Looking all around me, it seemed safe... I had to take this chance. I got down on all fours and slowly began crawling towards the plant making sure I wouldn't step on any dead branches.
Finally reaching out and holding onto the plant stem felt amazing. Now all there was left was to take a few of the leafs and get back home before sunrise. I crawled up taking a few at a time and strapping it around my waist.

I suddenly felt a chill down my body. It was quiet, too quiet. Why did the birds go silent? Something was preying on me. What do I do, what do I do! If I jump down and run straight for the tree in front of me I might make it. Yeah, I can if I'm lucky. I'm not too high up. It's now or never.

I jumped down and sprinted towards a little hole carved up in the tree. I almost made it when my entire body got janked from the ground by some sharp claws. I got lifted higher up in the air as I looked up at my hunter, a giant owl. In reaction I pulled out my needle sword stabbing it deep at one of its legs. Quickly it let go, sending me down straight to a tree. With my hands I tried as much as possible to hold on to any branches hoping it would slow my descent. Landing on the ground I yelled as the agonizing pain filled my body. The owl wasn't done though as I saw it diving back to get me. Quickly pulling my crossbow out I aimed at it and pulled the trigger. It hit the bird higher up at its leg making it hoot out in pain, before finally giving up and disappearing into the darkness.

As the adrenalin began to wear off, the pain became worse. Examining my body the owl had made a deep scratch mark on my side making me lose too much blood. I cut a piece of my jacket binding it around my side to try to minimize the amount that bleed out. Even still I could feel that I was starting to lose my consciousness.

The ground began shaking. Something was approaching and this time it was much bigger. It became louder with each step before finally stopping in front of me. It was a hunter dog sniffing around my body. Suddenly it began howling as new even louder steps began to approach. My sight slowly got foggy but I could still see it was a giant, though not Peter.
"Woah, a human," a deep cold voice said. "You don't see many in this side of the world. Where are you from?"I pulled myself up, leaned up against the tree pointing my needle at him. "Hey, don't do that, you are bleeding. Listen I'm not gonna hurt you, okay. So don't move or you will lose more blood."
He seemed nice enough. It was a risk but with my state I didn't have many options. I pulled it back reaching my hand for him before collapsing. The last thing I felt was landing on something warm and soft, I'm guessing his hand before blacking out.
