POV Harry
"It was hard for you to live without a daughter? Well you are a grown ass adult who has to live with his stupid life decisions. You chose to leave me when I was a child. I didn't chose to grow up without a dad- you made that decision on your own. Don't you dare play victim with me because if you are looking for my remorse, you won't find any here." Auden snaps slamming her fist on the counter.
When Louis told me 10 minutes ago that I was picking up an expensive painting from a special someone, I thought for a moment it could very well be Auden. However, I did not envision walking in on a surprise visit from Auden's father.
Out of all the different ways I expected our conversation to play out, this was certainly not one of them. I was thinking more along the lines of a chat- an apology from me (obviously), an explanation (if she lets me), and then ask her if she wants to get a drink sometime- that's all.
"Auden Marie you are being selfish-"
"Selfish? Did you seriously call your daughter selfish for being upset about growing up without a father?" I cut him off quickly. "Not to mention, she did ask you to leave her property multiple times and quite nicely might I add. I'm aware this conversation does not involve me, but seriously this is difficult to witness."
It's so unlike me to speak to an adult this way, but this man is simply disrespectful. He walked in here all tough in his expensive suite and fancy shoes and tried forcing his daughter to have a civil conversation yet in the most uncivil way.
He gets closer to my face and in a tone I have not yet heard he says, "Stay out of this family kid. I will speak to my daughter the way I see fit."
He places a strong hand on my shoulder and I immediately raise my eyebrows.
"Sir, there are five security guards staring at us right now and if you want to walk out of your daughters shop unscathed, I would remove your hand from my shoulder along with any thoughts about connecting your fist with my face." I say.
Did I really just play the do you know who I am card ? I mentally punch myself for sounding like an asshole.
Even though this grown man twice the size of me is threatening me, I am still trying my hardest not to smile. Auden's dad slowly turns to the gaping display windows where our car sits. Just like I said, five of our security guards planted in front of Auden's shop staring right back at him.
Without a word, he removes his hand from my shoulder and walks angrily out of the shop. Finally.
I look back at the cash register and see no one standing behind it. I only hear muffled cries.
I peer over the counter to find Auden curled up in a ball on the floor. Her hands cover her face and her back is to me.
I kneel down beside her and pull her close to my chest.
"It's over. He's gone. You are safe." I whisper into her hair.
