“Please what you want from me?” Amanda asked crying “What is my offence? Why am I treated this way?”
She heard footsteps from behind her, walking to her direction. Fear enveloped her and she let out soft sobs as the footsteps drew closer.
“Amanda! Amanda!! Amanda!!!” A different voice called. It was a very familiar voice. He draged a wooden chair to the front of her and sat on it.
“I was coming to your office.” She yelled angrily after seeing it was Tony.
“I know. I just had to make sure.” He said smiling.
“You infuriate me.” She told him straight in the eye.
Tony’s countenance changed immediately “You witless bitch.” he stood up instantly “It wouldn’t have come to this if you had just done what I asked. But what did you do. You disrespected me!” He yelled like lunatic.
“So, to teach me a lesson, you kidnapped me?” She yelled back at him, offending him even more.
“I’m going to do more than teach you a lesson.” He assured, sitting back on the chair.
“This is because of a stupid yellow file, Why does it have to be me, uhh?”
“Your boyfriend –"
“He’s not my boyfriend.” She corrected him quickly, knowing who exactly Tony was referring to.
“His father,” He continued ignoring her rude interruption “Offended my father and this made my father very mad.”
“What does that have to do with me?” She asked confused.
“Don’t ever interrupt me again.” He gave her a fierce look that melts her to the bone. “I was eight when my mom died from an accident. Dad said it was serious and she needed to undergo surgery but we had no money. He went to his elder brother, my uncle to ask for his assistance but he refused to help. So my mom died months later. My father promised to ruin his brother. When he started working in his company, his plan started and after he died, I took over. In a matter of time everything Mr. Wright has will be gone and my father, wherever he is now, will be proud.”
"You had a bad childhood, too sad. But why should I have to pay for that?"
Someone opened the door and walked quickly to where Tony was, he held out a box in his hands.
Amanda rose her head up towards him “You, I recognize you from the Chris coffee shop and in the company too." She recalled.
Tony took the box from Dan to the table behind him. He opened the box and took out a small, sharp knife “Sarah was lousy but easy to control. You don’t deserve to die like she did.” He said with his back at her, admiring the knife in his hand. He placed the knife on the tip of his finger, smiling, as he moved it gently on his finger tip.
“You killed Sarah?” She asked in a terrified tone.
“Why ask what you already know the answer to?” He turned to her direction still holding the knife in his hand and walking back to his seat.
Amanda shivered after seeing the knife. It was like a movie made real. She never had imagined this scenario happening to her in reality. “Are you going to kill me too?”
“We’ll see. Sarah’s was quick and painless, but in your case Amanda, I want to hear you scream.”
“God please help me.” She prayed almost silently. Right that moment, she had wished she had listened to Kate and Bridget when they advised against her getting a job.
“Oh honey, no one can help you now.” Tony told her, brushing the back of his hand on her sweaty face “Where to begin?” He moved his hand from her face to her neck, forcing a her heart to beat chaotically “It’s a pity to waste such a beauty.” Holding her head still, he slowly raised the Knife to the back of her ear.
“No, no please, no!” She screamed so loud that her consciousness lost it hold on her body, preventing her from witnessing her last prayer come into manifestation.
Tony had barely reached the knife to Amanda's left ear when she collapsed on his hand. He smiled evilly and proceeded with the knife to her ear when he heard,
“Freeze! freeze!!” A team of officers from the NYPD ordered, halting Tony's hands as they walked into the place pointing their guns on him.
“How is this possible.” He asked looking at Dan and the lifeless lady on his arm.
“Drop your weapon and slowly step away from the victim.” Detective Roy ordered Tony in a loud voice.
Tony complied then, one of the policemen ran towards him and cuffed his hands to the back.
Detective Roy signaled to another policeman to Handcuff Dan who was with his hands up in the air, above his head before venturing to untie Amanda who later fell lifelessly on his arms.
“You have the right to remain silent for anything you say or do will be used against you in the court of law. You have a right to a lawyer and if you can’t afford one, one will be provided for you.” Detective Roy said and then, led Tony and Dan out of the place, carrying Amanda in his arm.
*SIGH*🙏
