Wing's Pov

I have the ability to read people's hearts and sense shadows. Father took interest in me due to my bright heart and gave me a mission to collect the shadows that were harmful and roaming. Many of these shadows attached to people are there to balance the shine in someone's heart. With a bright heart, the shadow tries to corrupt it and make the person think bad thoughts or do bad things. They are the Ying and Yang of our bodies, mostly, but shadows roaming on their own only seek what they can't have.

I can hear the voices of shadows, not only feel them. Even as Pokémon, I could understand them. Back in the lab, the shadow that took form wanted revenge, I knew that for a fact, but it didn't speak. Once I was near that baby, it told me that it wanted it to be safe from that evil person... Whoever that was. That person must have taken that baby's mommy away.

I opened my eyes to see myself in a room with something heavy on my arm. I looked down to see that I was laying on a bed and had wraps on the spot that I bled from "Hey" I looked up to see Blade on my bed side.

"Blade?" I tried sitting up, but he didn't let me.

"Careful. You lost a lot of blood. Mom said it's best that you don't move"

"I am... where?" I looked around, feeling shadows again.

"At the Pokémon center"

"The place that heals people and Pokémon, right?" He nodded "I was hurt, then?" I held my painful arm.

"Yeah. Was it a shadow?" I sat up anyway with my arm in aching pain... "Are you okay?" I smiled at him.

"You came to my rescue again. Thank you, Blade" Litwick gave me the keystone and shut off the lights.

"Huh?" Blade looked around. I held the keystone in my hands and watched the shadows gently and voluntarily enter the stone with no hesitation. After so, Litwick turned the lights back on, showing me how shocked Blade was.

"That was easier than I thought" I stared at the stone "most of the shadows came from this building. Most people died here and leave either happy or with guilt. Those emotions do not make shadows violent like anger or revenge. I do not think collecting other shadows will be this easy, but it would be nice"

"Why would you put yourself through this kind of work?" Blade asked me "Your dad abandoned you here on your own and never let you see the world. Why would you do something so dangerous for him?"

"Is that what you think?" I frowned. He frowned and nodded "I can see why that may sound concerning, he was protecting me all these years. You see... my heart is very bright, but it does not have protection. This means that my heart can easily be corrupted by my shadow. My friend has a bright heart as well, and her barrier came from the Pokémon of emotion. That's what father told me. Bright hearts need to be protected"

"Do I have a bright heart? Do I have a barrier?" He asked.

"You do have a barrier. Everyone has a well-lit heart, but bright hearts are usually attached to people who are selfless. They care about others more than themselves. It is not a bad thing that you do not have a bright heart. This means that with being selfless, these shadows are easy to manipulate their person and twist their minds. Selfless people, I think, do not have ambitions for themselves, but for others. Father told me that when a person is this way, their mind drives them to do something for themselves, and the shadow starts to manipulate you. It is a sad reality, and I did not have a barrier of my own until it had to grow with some help"

"With some help?"

"That is not a story I want to share right now" I admit.

"But you said your friend got her barrier from a legendary Pokémon, the Pokémon of emotions" I nodded "Did you have to wait for a legendary Pokémon to help you make a barrier?"
