"Minseok!" a voice called after them with a hint of worry making the toddler turn around and let go of Changbin's hand.

"Daddy!" the boy squealed in happiness running into his outstretched arms.

Changbin turned around confused.

"Baby you can't run away from me like this. I told you to wait by my side." the father explained patiently trying to sound stern but melted at his child's small pout.

"Seokie is sorry, daddy. I saw a lady with a puppy and followed her." the boy apologized with his head hung low. "But look! This short mister wanted to help me find you." his face lit up with cheerfulness again and he pointed at the dumbfounded boy, tugging at his father's coat to take a look.

"Changbin?" an almost inaudible whisper slipped his lips.

Changbin's heart skipped a beat. It was the same voice he adored the most in the world, the same warm voice calling his name as he had done throughout the years they spent together.

How could he not recognize him at first glance? Hyunjin's hair grew almost to shoulder-length; once naturally dark, now ash blond. His facial features got sharper and more defined too, a small mole under the left eye still there. The mole that Changbin had planted so many gentle kisses on.

His eyes once again traced back to Hyunjin's who was already staring back at him and for a second the world around them stopped.

"Daddy, you know this mister?" curious, Minseok shook his dad's arm demanding answers.

Still maintaining eye contact with the older, Hyunjin muttered a distracted 'hmm'.

"Oh, no. I must have confused him with someone." an awkward smile stretched on his lips and a nervous giggle escaped his throat.

What?

Once again, words got stuck in Changbin's throat, his body suddenly felt too heavy to move an inch.

"Sorry for my mistake and thank you for your help." the blond bowed politely showing his gratitude and turned around with his son's small hand in his.

"Bye-bye mister!" the child waved gleefully.

Was he still asleep? Was this also a part of his dream? A dull pain settled in his heart as he watched the tall figure edge away further and further from him.

Why did it hurt so much even after so many years? He should have moved on a long time ago.

Fighting away the tears, Changbin completed grocery shopping and rushed back home.

...

After a few hours of wandering around the apartment trying to complete any of the neglected chores, the raven-haired decided that he needed to get his mind off of the now blond boy so he grabbed his phone to call the one person he could confide in.

"Hyung?" after a few rings, a nasal voice spoke on the other side of the line.

"Can we please meet up now?" not putting any effort to conceal his worn-out voice, Changbin asked straightforwardly.

"Did something happen? Do you want to meet up in our usual spot?" alarmed by his friend's state, the boy asked.

There was a halt to the words that inclined the older didn't want to go into details before he addressed the second part.

"I need something stronger than coffee today." Changbin chuckled bitterly before continuing. "I will send you the location, okay?"

"Hyung... Okay, I'll be there but please don't do anything irrational." the voice on the other side of the line gave up sighing loudly.

"Thank you, Seungmin." Changbin stretched his lips into a small smile even though the younger couldn't see it, before hanging up.

Not minding to change his outfit, Changbin stuffed his phone and wallet into his jeans pockets locking up the door to his apartment. On his way out he sent his friend the location of a club he chose randomly for their meet-up.

The cold evening air filled his lungs as he took a deep breath. There were so many questions inside his head he wanted to know answers to but at the same time was too scared to learn them. 'Did Hyunjin not want to recall him anymore?', 'Was he contented now that he was happily married and with a child?' and the most painful one: 'Did he regret their shared past?'.

Changbin hated himself for not being able to smile at the thought of Hyunjin's happiness. He wished he was the source of it and no matter how egoistic it sounded given the fact that he was the one who pushed their relationship to an end, he couldn't move on. He knew he had to but after all those years of not having any contact with the younger and almost achieving his goal it all seemed in vain after just one glance at him.

The boy shivered feeling the chilly wind brush against his lightly covered figure and rushed his steps towards the club.

Suddenly his phone vibrated in his back pocket.

'I'm bringing Chan with me whether you like it or not. If I have to deal with your pathetic asses then I prefer to do it at one blow.'

Changbin read the message and scoffed amusedly. Even when Seungmin didn't do anything on purpose, he was able to lift his spirits just with his 'I'm tired of your stupidity 24/7' persona. Although he had a savageness to him, Seungmin was not a heartless person, quite the opposite. He was very empathetic. He was always there for Changbin when he needed to cry his heart out.

There was another reason why he brightened up a little bit. Seungmin and Chan had been a couple for two years thanks to Changbin introducing them to each other since the older was his colleague from work. The two had had their up and downs but they worked hard to maintain a strong relationship making sure to talk every problem out. Sometimes when Chan and he stayed up late in the studio the older would receive a short message from his boyfriend that put a bright smile on his face which Changbin found extremely sweet.

He couldn't help but yearn for something like that.

"Maybe I should finally try to find someone," Changbin sighed going inside.

To be honest, I'm doubting my work and feel like it's too cliché but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless. I'll try my best to improve the storyline.
