Changbin looked at his reflection in the en suite bathroom mirror. He was tired. Hyunjin knocked on the ajar door and entered the bathroom. He wrapped his arms around his waist and nuzzled his face into his shoulder.

"He's finally asleep," he murmured against his warm skin and kissed his shoulder.

With a hum, Changbin leaned back into the younger's chest and interlocked his hands with him. There was nothing he needed more than Hyunjin's affection. Especially after meeting his ex-wife.

Jennie was a stunning girl. He had to admit that Minseok resembled her a little. Actually, the more he thought about it, the more sure he was that the boy looked like a perfect mix of both her and Hyunjin.

He glanced at their reflection again. Perhaps in the past, Jennie had been in his exact spot with the blond's arms securing her baby bump. It felt weird to imagine that. He didn't like it one bit. The sole thought made his stomach drop.

But again, wasn't he the one who had wished Hyunjin to be happy without him? He couldn't really blame him for the past. None of it should matter to him as he was the one in Hyunjin's arms, right?

Somehow, he felt uneasy. He wriggled out of the blond's embrace and took a step back.

"Changbin?"

"Let's go to sleep. It's been a long day for us both," he proposed with a faint smile.

Hyunjin seemed to want to say something but he eventually agreed. Changbin felt a pang of guilt but he didn't want to talk about anything linked to the girl that night.

Little did he know it was a big mistake to avoid communication.

[...]

The next days surprisingly turned out to be quite normal. They woke up together, had breakfast with Minseok, went to work, got back, listened to the little boy's exciting stories of how his day with aunt Yeji went, and, finally, went to bed together. Nothing extraordinary.

They talked; just not about Hyunjin's marriage with Jennie. He kissed him, hugged him, and made love to him. It was all Changbin needed.

Days went by and Minseok's birthday came. Everyone was there ready to celebrate the little boy's 3rd birthday. All but one. Jennie arrived two minutes later dressed casually yet finely.

Of course, Changbin was the one who opened the door for her as Hyunjin had Minseok on his lap. He greeted her with a tiny smile and helped her take off her coat.

"The living room is to the left," he indicated politely, hanging her outerwear.

Jennie looked at him amused and chuckled. "I know. I lived here before."

"Ah, yes, right..." Changbin replied awkwardly.

It was a simple statement but why was his chest clenching in discomfort?

They walked in silence until they reached the living room where Yeji and her girlfriend Ryujin were playing hide and seek with Minseok with Kkami following them closely, and Hyunjin pouring his mother wine.

Once Jennie stepped into the room, the older woman stood up abruptly, visibly happy to see her. Changbin grimaced secretly at Mrs. Hwang. The woman definitely despised the idea of her son being in a relationship with a lowlife like him again.

Now that Hyunjin's ex-wife was back, she wouldn't try to hold back her witty comments toward him.

"Jennie, darling! I didn't expect to meet you here. How have you been?" she beamed.

"Good afternoon Mrs. Hwang. It's lovely seeing you. I'm great, thank you," the girl greeted back with a polite bow.

"Granny, do you know this auntie?" it was Minseok who stopped running and eyed Jennie curiously.

Changbin glanced nervously at the blond. He knew better than to trust his mother. Sure, he had agreed that the boy should learn about his biological mother sooner or later but it wasn't exactly the best time to introduce her as his mum. Or was it just the anxious part of him rationalizing his doubts?

Hyunjin stared at the woman in silence. She smiled at the little boy and ruffled his hair. "Of course, I know her. She's someone close to your daddy."

Yep. Surely something Mrs. Hwang would say. Changbin bit his lip in anticipation.

"Close to daddy? Like mommy?" the boy tilted his head like a puppy.

His question definitly caught Mrs. Hwang off guard. When she finally opened her mouth to respond, Hyunjin cut in.

"Baby, this is auntie Jennie. She's daddy's friend. Say hi to her," he encouraged.

Minseok scrutinized the girl for a moment before he cracked a smile. "Hi, auntie Nini. My name is Minseokie," he bowed clumsily.

Jennie froze. Changbin could tell she was touched. Hyunjin cleared his throat quietly to bring her attention back. She blinked the tears away and smiled at the boy.

"Hi, Minseokie. It's nice to finally meet you."
