~Drizzle, Jack, and Baby Sam. Just for some peace before more conflict 😈~

"You're being ridiculous," Drizzle managed to say in between Jack's stubborn Analysis of the humans.

"Oh, is it ridiculous to worry about our sons? To be concerned when they're in danger?!"

"Where's the danger?" Drizzle screamed, pounding a fist against the shaking walls. "You've been arguing about this non stop without any proof for the past hour!"

Which was true, for the most part. Ever since Sam and Axel went off on their own, Jack decided it would be the perfect time to express his feelings towards the humans, once and for all. He thought that maybe, if his wife agreed with him as she normally did, things would start looking up.

What he didn't expect, was for Drizzle to take the human's side.

"How can you just ignore what they are?" Jack quieted down, shook from his wife's sudden outburst. The last time he had seen her so emotional...well, he couldn't even remember. "And what they're capable of?"

"Capable of bringing us back to our son? I'd say the odds are in our favor with these humans..."

"Yes, sure, maybe. But what if Sam gets too acquainted with the idea, and tries to befriend others? Do you not understand how dangerous that could be?"

Drizzle squinted her eyes at Jack, finally able to capture the telltale signs of something larger at play.

His hands automatically rubbed through his hair, seemingly taking out chunks at a time with the stress. His eyes darted this way and that, and a sad look of disbelief remained constant on his face. As much as their argument bothered her, Drizzle was never one to ignore emotions.

"Tell me what this is really about," She demanded, taking his fists into her own to release the tension from his scalp.

"It's about Sam being...being blinded by a few decent humans that could easily kill him in one-"

"No," Drizzle cut him off. "I asked you to tell me what it's actually about. Not the ridiculous cover story for why your upset."

"Drizzle," Jack began, and decided not to go any further when he recognized the look in her eyes.

Drizzle never gave up on anything. It took her four years to find her son, and it would take another four to find out what he was really thinking unless he confessed. It was one of the reasons he fell in love with her in the first place, but figuring out why exactly he was so adamant about his disposition on the humans frightened Jack more than he cared to admit.

The borrowers led each other away from the cramped kitchen, and down the narrow hallway to relax on the nest together. It was a nest that they created the second they made their home in the house, and it was something they both cherished with an equal fondness. Especially after learning that Sam made it his duty to continue using it after they had 'passed away.'

"I don't like being called ridiculous for saying what I'm thinking," Jack admitted, taking a deep breath as he leaned back against the fluffiest blanket in the nest. It was most commonly used as a pillow for the family, but now that there was an extra member, Jack found that he wasn't using it nearly as often as he would've liked.

"Then I won't call you that anymore," Drizzle said, firm in her speech, unwavering once more. "Please tell me what's going on."

   "I don't know, Driz..."

"Maybe it has to do with Sam?" She guessed, throwing it out for him to pick up.

   "Of course it does."
