The back door slammed as Mason stormed out of the house and I instantly narrowed my eyes on Gemma.

She knew something that Mason didn't want anyone to know, that much was obvious. What I couldn't seem to wrap my head around was why Gemma continued to use that knowledge to tease him, fully aware of how badly he'd react.

"You should go check on him, Erin" said Gemma, unfazed.

          I maintained my hard stare.

"Why did you think that was necessary? He obviously didn't want you to talk about... whatever it is you know." I asked, not realizing the accusing tone behind my words.

"Yeah you're right. He didn't want me to talk about it," she said casually, "now you should go check on him."

It infuriated me at how nonchalant she was acting despite just causing her brother to basically throw a temper tantrum, but I knew arguing with her wasn't going to get me anywhere. Instead, I silently turned and marched through the kitchen and out the back door (but slightly less aggressive than Mason).

It was raining lightly outside, but still enough that I was left wishing that I'd grabbed a jacket - or stolen another sweater from Mason.

He was sitting on the deck, legs dangling over the edge. The moon illuminated the sky, casting a beautiful gleam over Mason, which highlighted all of his features. I paused for a moment, silently admiring the gorgeous human being in front of me before I remembered why I was out here.

I sat down next to him and stared out at the view in front of us. I remained silent for a few moments, attempting to gather my thoughts. And even after minutes of silence, I still had no clue what to say.

The rain seemed to slow, fading to a soft drizzle, yet my hair was already soaked and a slight breeze picked up, chilling the air.

"Are... are you okay?" I asked lamely.

Mason's features remained hardened as he snapped, "I'm fine."

I nodded my head, taking in a sharp breath as I turned away from him to once again collect my thoughts.

A few tense moments passed before Mason suddenly sighed, pulling his sweater over his head and handing it to me. I hadn't even realized how cold I was until I was engulfed in Mason's cozy sweatshirt.

I slipped my hands into the sleeves with a soft laugh, "Wow, I didn't even have to steal this one."

His angry facade cracked, a small smile slipping onto his lips upon hearing my joke, "Yeah well, I'm getting this one back" he said.
