" what if the worst thing that happened to you turns out to be the best thing that has ever happened to you "

- Joe Dispenza

"There's no argument really, we all know what it's really saying" Jackson shrugs, looking back down at his phone. We were currently in Mason's truck, on our way to school. But of course it wouldn't be a regular drive to school without an argument.

"Yeah. We do." Noah agrees, his arms crossed. He continues to peek at Jackson out of the corner of his eye, as if waiting for him to continue. When Jackson makes no move to speak, Noah decides to pick an argument.

"Anyone with half a brain hears Laurel."

Jackson scoffs and rolls his eyes "We all hear Yanny, Noah. You're the weirdo that claims to hear Laurel."

"Because I do!" Noah spits angrily.

"But it clearly says Yanny! So you must be lying." Jackson rolls his eyes again just to get on Noah's nerves, and to his absolute pleasure, he succeeds.

"WHAT EVEN IS A YANNY?" Noah suddenly yells, absolutely outraged, "AT LEAST LAUREL IS A WORD!"

Gemma facepalms from the passenger seat and Jackson groans. I suppress a giggle while I silently listen to the argument take place, even Mason couldn't hold back a smile.

Two minutes ago I was trying to rid my mind of Robert's insufferable voice repeating his words from last night over and over again on a loop. The one sentence was like an earworm, a song that just kept repeating itself in my brain no matter how many times I tried to forget about it. Thankfully, it's nearly impossible to be in a bad mood around Noah, and his goofy attitude can be extremely distracting.

"Yanny is a name," Mason informs Noah from the driver's seat, "just like Laurel."

Noah looks at a loss for words, (which brings a satisfied smirk to Jackson's face) so instead of using proper words, he shouts "NUH-UH!" similar to a four year old throwing a tantrum.

"How 'bout a vote then?" Jackson offers smugly, as he already knew that the odds were in his favor. Still, Noah blindly accepts to settle the argument Jackson's way.

"Who hears Yanny?" Jackson asks, raising his hand. Both Mason and I also raise one of our hands.

"And who hears Laurel?" Jackson asks, raising an eyebrow instead. Noah viscously whips his hand up by his face, nearly hitting the ceiling of the truck. Gemma also raises her hand.
