" people who repeatedly attack your confidence and self-esteem are quite aware of your potential, even if you are not "

- Wayne Gerard Trotman

"This is it, I think you guys are going to have to chop my toes off," sighed Gemma dramatically, "get ready for an impromptu amputation - or don't, actually, because getting ready would completely contradict the whole 'impromptu' part of the surgery."

Currently, Jackson, Noah, Mason and I were waiting at the door prepared to leave for school. Gemma on the other hand, was slouched over the back of the couch complaining about how miserable she was because her toes were still numb after our time in the pool last night.

Let's be honest, she's just looking for an excuse to not go to school.

"Gemma-"

"It's okay, Jackson," she said with a sigh, "I know what the consequences are, I won't hate you for cutting off my precious little piggies."

"That's not-"

"It's going to be tough at first,"

"Gemma, we hav-"

"But it's okay, honestly guys, don't worry. I'll adjust to having no toes eventually."

"Gemma school starts in-"

"Of course I'll need all of your support, mentally and physically since I'm pretty sure you need your toes to balance."

"Oh my g-"

"But I know that you'll all be there fo-"

"GEMMA!" Noah suddenly yelled, successfully gaining her attention. Before continuing, he sent a smug look to Jackson.

"Listen, I don't wanna go to school any more than you do, hun," he purses his lips, "but unfortunately 'education' is a thing and we're kinda sorta supposed to have it, I guess?"

She sighed loudly, letting her body slide to the floor before shuffling over to the door, "If no one had an education, we'd all be at the same level of intelligence." she pointed out, dragging her feet all the way to Mason's truck.

Mason laughed, "No, we'd all be stupid."

"Still the same level of stupidity," she quipped.

He sighed, starting the engine, "I'm not going to get into this with you right now," he warned.

"Why, because you know I'd win?"
