Pairing: the Unholy Trinity

"Stop being so silly, Tana." Quinn giggled as Santana danced around the living room like an ungraceful ballerina.

It was the first day of kindergarten for the two girls and Quinn was nervous. She could tell that Santana was just trying to make her relax, so she gave in and joined her best friend.

"No no no, Quinn." The brunette playfully huffed. "You have to do this." She said as she jumped in the air and landed with a loud thump. "You're being too good." Quinn only giggled again before copying Santana. It made the shorter girl grin. "There ya go."

"Come on girls!" Mrs. Lopez called out. "You can't be late for the first day of school."

"Coming, Mami!" Santana shouted back. The two six year olds grabbed their backpacks, (Santana's was red and Quinn's was purple, they thought they were too old for princesses) and linked hands before running to the car.

"Okay you two. I don't want to hear about any trouble, Santana." Mrs. Lopez said firmly to her daughter, who rolled her eyes.

"Yes Mami." She replied, bored.

"But, I also want you two to have fun. So please try to talk to other kids." The older latina added. Quinn knew she was talking mostly to her about that since the blonde usually stuck with Santana and didn't like talking to new people.

"Okay. Bye mom!" Santana grinned, giving her mom a kiss on the cheek before jumping out of the car and waiting for Quinn.

"Bye Mrs. Lopez." Quinn said, more gently than Santana and also gave the woman a kiss on the cheek before joining Santana.

Maribel watched as the two girls ran towards the school, hand in hand, and smiled. She really hoped that these two always stayed that way.

"Bye, mijas." She said quietly.

*

"Wow. There's a lot of people here." Quinn said quietly as she held on to Santana's arm for dear life.

"Don't worry, Q. It'll be fun." Santana assured.

"How do you know?" The blonde asked, genuinely curious as to how her friend could have any idea how the day would go.

"Duh." Santana scoffed. "Because I'm here." She only said it because she wanted to see Quinn smile, and it worked.

The taller girl grinned as Quinn rolled her eyes. "Cocky." She said, loosening her vice grip on the tan arm.

"Hello, boys and girls." The teacher said cheerily. "How about we all take a seat on the carpet?"

Some kids sprinted to get to the carpet and sit in the front. A short brunette was what caught Quinn's attention.

"They're such losers." Santana said with a eye roll.

"Don't be mean, San." Quinn pouted.

The same short brunette turned around and saw Quinn looking. She smiled and Quinn blushed, hiding her face in Santana's arm.

Eventually, all the students were seated and the teacher started talking.

"So, since it's our first day, how about we go around and say our name, and one thing we like." The older woman suggested with a gentle smile.

As they went around, most kids said the usual: candy, toys, TV. But then it got to that brunette.

"I'm Rachel Berry and I love to sing." She said and Quinn etched it into her brain that the girls name was Rachel Berry and she loved to sing.

Eventually it got to another blonde girl, this one with blue eyes. "I'm Brittany S. Pierce and I like unicorns." She said with a grin.

A few kids snickered and one boy with a Mohawk, Noah, Santana remembered, called out "unicorns are fake!" Before laughing.

"Stop it." Santana said firmly to the boy. Something about the blonde girl screamed vulnerable and Santana didn't like that she was being picked on.

Noah rolled his eyes but said nothing more than a "whatever".

It came around to Santana and she sat up straight. "I'm Santana Lopez and I like dancing." She said confidently.

Then it was Quinn. The blonde really didn't want to speak, but she had to. So she took a deep breath and spoke softly.

"I'm Quinn Fabray and I like to draw." She said. And she noticed that Rachel was watching her intently. The hazel-eyed girl took a chance and smiled at Rachel, who smiled back before turning around.

Quinn and Santana, as always, did everything together that day. They made sure that they were in the same group for centres and got their desks next to each other.

At lunch time, they ate their lunch together as well. But, it was what happened when they went outside to play that caught the girls' attention.

It seemed that everybody had somebody to play with. Santana and Quinn, Puck and Finn seemed to have become friends, same with Kurt, Rachel and Mercedes. Even Artie was siting with Mike and Tina. And then there were the other people that Santana and Quinn hadn't bothered to remember the names of. But the point is, everybody had somebody.

Except for, that is, Brittany. She was sitting near a tree and she looked like she were trying to feed a squirrel.

Quinn and Santana shared a knowing look before walking towards the lonely blonde under the looming evergreen tree.

"Hi." Santana said gently, not want to scare the girl.

Brittany turned around with a confused look on her face. She sighed and stood up.

"If you're gonna make fun of me then just do it." She said.

Quinn and Santana looked at each other, with what seemed to be disbelief, before looking at Brittany again.

"Why would we make fun of you?" Quinn asked quietly.

"Because everybody does." Brittany said as if it were obvious.

"Well, we just wanted to know if you wanted to play with us." Santana said with the friendliest smile she could muster.

Brittany looked skeptical. "Really?" She asked, to which Santana and Quinn nodded. "O-okay."

Quinn grabbed Brittany's left hand while Santana grabbed her right and they ran in the direction of the playground.

And thus, the Unholy Trinity was born.

A/N: sorry it's super short. I added more, but then felt like it was dragging on so I deleted it. I should have another one up soon.
