Chapter 18
Fitting
"But he can't, his father have been informed about you and if Damien did something that displeases his father, you will be the one who'll suffer the punishment without Damien's knowledge."
Bakit?
And the most suspicious thing that I heard from this man was he could speak my language. Was he also half Filipino?
"Who are you?" I asked, not getting myself any closer to where he was standing.
"Alesandro, son of Bloodemir's consigliere," he responded immediately which I did not expect from him, I thought that he was going to weigh in his mind what he would suppose to answer. "Bloodemir is Damien's father," he added quickly when he realized the silent confusion from me, questions that was forming in my mind. "Don't be scared, I'm not the enemy."
I could judge by the way he was speaking that this he was telling me the truth about him.
Bloodemir Sartori. I did not expect that the name of Damien's father would be that bloody barbarous and mercilessly savage. I could not picture myself meeting the man, it was pretty unimaginable and unthinkable. What would be his appearance? What would I do? Would I shake, wobble, quiver in helpless fear and intense intimidation? I hoped not, I did not want to look like a scared and terrified girl.
The man that introduced himself as Alesandro remained his back at me, standing tall halfway the stairs as the three normal looking men ascended the stairs.
I knew that the men were not as normal as what they all looked when the three of them stood a distance from me. Alesandro did not move.
"Come with us, Saoirse," kahit na seryoso ang baritonong boses ni Alesandro ay malinaw ko pa ring naririnig ang tono ng pagiging mapaglaro nito. "Come with me and you will know the truth. Why Carlos and Jane Buenavidez died, why Eleanor and Ella disappeared."
My eyes widened while staring at Alesandro's broad back. Did I hear it right? Did he just mention the name of those persons who was important to me?
I wanted to believe him, but I could not trust a man that I just met perhaps five minutes ago, more or less. I preferred to trust Damien than him, who knew that what if Alesandro was faking the information that he fed to me? People nowadays could easily slide their tongue with unforgiving mendacities and falsehoods.
