Chapter Nine: The Valeska Brothers

Life slowly went back to normal after Ivy's death and Jerome's sudden departure, the days passed relatively quickly and soon it had been a month and a half, Nyssa threw herself into her work to avoid hearing about Jerome, she found out he left to join his brother to run the city and it made her furious, he was just running around the town killing people for fun and it made her feel disgusted that she ever let someone like him touch her or even be near her, she'd heard about how he was in the past but living with him she saw a different light to him, she shook him from her thoughts and focused her attention to her friends in front of her.

Her, Bab's and Tris decided to go out to lunch, none of them had heard from Tabitha since she left the house, "okay, so anyways, there I was and I said, I'm not sick, I'm free, with blood all over my mouth.. it was amazing" Bab's said telling them a story about her days in the MANIAX! they all laughed, suddenly a bullet flew through the window of the restaurant and it hit a waitress in the head, all three of them rolled their eyes and pulled out their guns and flipped the table to avoid the gunshots, the window shattered and people jumped in, hearing their footsteps crunch on the glass, Bab's and Lucky shared a look and quickly jumped up and shot the two goons in the head.

Suddenly a very familiar cackle sounded through the air and Nyssa got chills, she jumped up and pointed her gun but almost dropped it in confusion, the man wasn't Jerome, but he didn't look too far off him, her eyes widened at the realization that this was his twin brother Jeremiah "no need to be alarmed everyone, I'm simply here for lunch" Jeremiah said calmly suddenly more gunshots sounded out and two people that were cowering in the corner laid dead, a maniacal cackle burst through the still air.

He walked through the door and stood next his brother "you know there's a door right, Miah.. HAHAHAHAHA" Jerome laughed and Jeremiah rolled his eyes, Jerome turned his head and his eyes locked with Nyssa who was glaring daggers at him and he grinned "awhh Miah, look, it's the girl I fucked and ditched" he said walking toward her, she held her gun up to him with anger radiating from her "I liked it better when you had disappeared" she said annoyed with him and he pouted jokingly "awh come on, you missed me a little right?" he asked getting close to her face "go to hell" she spat and he smirked and leaned in to whisper in her ear but loud enough so people could hear "well I slept with you, that's close enough right?" she went to hit him but he was quicker and grabbed her throat, he pushed her back and slammed her back onto a table and pointed his gun at her head, cocked it and smirked.

She felt her stomach twist and turn and suddenly a calm voice broke the tension "Jerome, we came to eat, you can deal with your ex conquests another time" Jeremiah said and Jerome smirked, he brought his gun down to her thigh "was good to see you Nyss" he hissed and suddenly pressed the trigger and shot her thigh, she screamed out loudly and he laughed, he stepped away from her and stared at her grasping her thigh "you mother- fucker!" she said through gritted teeth and he grinned "awh did I miss? I was aiming for your head, should I try again?" he pointed his gun but she was quicker and without looking where she was shooting she pressed the trigger and he groaned in pain "you shot my shoulder!" he said holding his bleeding wound "I was aiming for your head" she said sliding to the floor in pain, Jeremiah rolled his eyes and took his brother's uninjured arm and led him out of the restaurant.

Bab's and Lucky helped Nyssa get to the hospital and a doctor named Lee called her into the room, I sat up on the bed and watched Lee patch up my leg "he really got you good" she said inspecting the wound "you know who it was?" I asked looking her puzzled and she shrugged "the news said there was an attack in a restaurant, five killed and one wounded in the leg, and here you are with the same injury, just taking a wild guess" I nodded "you're right anyway, he shot me so I shot him back" she chuckled a bit "you're lucky to be alive" I shrugged "he didn't shoot me at random, we have.. history" she looked me over then nodded "I would suppose that explains your situation" I cocked my head to the side "situation?" "you don't know?" "know what?" I asked feeling worry bubble in my gut "Nyssa, you're pregnant" my jaw dropped "excuse me?" she grabbed out my blood results and showed me "your HCG levels are through the roof, you're at least 6 weeks along" I felt my blood run cold "here, take this test, some women respond better when they see the proof with their own eyes" I took the pregnancy test from her hand and stepped into the bathroom.

I sat on the bed and waited for the result "it's been a few minutes, it should tell you the answer now" I nodded and slowly flipped the test over and my breath hitched staring down at the two little clear pink lines, I'm really pregnant "I'm guessing this is unplanned" she said slipping off her gloves and I nodded "very" she nodded in understanding "it will all be okay, it's your decision on what you want to do about it, no one else's" "fuuck, I have to tell the father" I said throwing my head back and groaned making her smile slightly "I'm sure he'll be thrilled" she said "yeah or he'll throw my face through a wall" I said half jokingly "hey, if you ever need somewhere to stay, here's my number and address, I want to help you through this" I smiled at her and jumped off the bed "thanks Lee, I might actually take you up on that place to stay" she gave me a warm smile and I sent her one back and left the room.

Barbara and Lucky ran up to her checking her over "relax I'm fine, but there's something else" they looked at her confused and slightly worried, she held up the positive pregnancy test in front of them and their jaws dropped "is that?" Bab's asked "Jerome's?" Lucky added and she nodded to both of them "shit" Barbara said "yep" Nyssa said "so.. what now?" Lucky asked "I never thought I'd say this.. but.. I gotta go to church" they nodded and left the hospital.

Jerome sat on Jeremiah's desk getting patched up by Ecco "ow! easy" he snapped at her "your own stupid fault for messing with a bounty hunter, what did you think was going to happen?" "shove it, Miah" Jerome said agitated "Jeremiah, you have a visitor" one of his followers said and Ecco finished wrapping a gauze around his arm and stepped outside to see who it was, Jerome and Jeremiah snapped their attention to the conversation with the visitor "you can't go back there" Ecco said "oh shut it, blondie!" Jerome smirked knowing whose voice that was.

The door busted open and Nyssa stood with Barbara and Lucky "what do you want, you shot me" he said agitated and she felt her anger bubble quickly "you shot me first asshat!" "didn't you like my present?" he said jumping down from the desk and stepping closer "you know, you just give such amazing gifts, I decided to give you one" she snapped sarcastically and his face showed obvious confusion, she reached into her pocket and held the test, his attention snapped to it and he stormed over to her and gripped her wrist tightly that was holding the test, his eyes darkened on her, before he could do anything Barbara and Lucky cocked their guns and pointed them at his head "don't even think about it, clown boy" Bab's said but Jerome's eyes never left Nyssa's "you've been with someone else!" he said and pushed her back "do you really think I'd come and see your psychotic ass if I thought for a second that it might not be yours!" he grew visibly frustrated with the situation realizing that she was telling the truth "get rid of it" he said darkly stepping toward her and she stepped forward meeting him at his face "fuck, you" she growled and he grabbed out his gun and cocked it and aimed it at her stomach.

She grabbed hers and aimed it at his head "one chance, get rid of it or I will" he growled darkly, suddenly a stern hand landed on his shoulder pulling him back slightly "brother, please, she is carrying a child have some decency, you put it there, take the responsibility or don't but don't rob her of her child" Jerome threw his gun at the wall frustrated and turned away "FUCK!" he yelled out punching a hole in the wall, Jeremiah turned to face Nyssa "if you are lying about this-" "do you really think I'd come here and risk getting shot by that asshole if I were lying" he thought for a second then nodded "very true, then it's decided, you will stay with us" "WHAT!?" Jerome and Nyssa said in unison "she's carrying precious cargo, a Valeska is valuable, we can't risk anything happening to her" he said calmly and they both shook their heads "this is sibling abuse Miah!" Jeremiah rolled his eyes "I'll stay on one condition" Jeremiah cocked his eyebrow "name it, I want you to be as comfortable as possible" "I want Barbara and Tris to stay" he looked passed Nyssa to see both girls pointing guns at Jerome still "done" "no! not done! she ain't staying!" Jerome said "it's my house Jerome, and she's carrying my niece or nephew, she's staying whether you like it or not" he rolled his eyes and pouted.

Jeremiah took the girls back to Oswald's who was confused to see them with him, Lucky explained the situation and Ed and Oswald were shocked "I want to visit these two, as much as I want" Nyssa said to Jeremiah while standing next to Oswald and Ed, he nodded "you won't be a prisoner, it's just for the baby's protection, anyone you want that's not a threat is welcome, and you're free to leave during the day" she took a deep breath and hugged them both "I guess I'll see you guys soon" she said and they nodded "sooner than you think" Ed said and she smiled "you better take care of her, Mr Valeska" Oswald said protectively "that's my every and only, intention Mr Cobblepot" they nodded and the three girls left with their stuff to stay at the Valeska twin's house.
