Chapter Forty-Four: Heartbreak

Nyssa groaned and rolled over but was suddenly stopped when she felt an arm wrapped around her waist, the arm pulled her back and she was suddenly straddling a toned torso, her eyes peeled open and all the memories from the night before came flooding back "good morning to you too" a snarky voice said from under her, she groaned and rolled her eyes "shut up Jerome, and stop poking me with that thing" she jumped up and had her legs either side of him, he gripped her ankles and ran his hands up her thighs to her waist and sat up "it's morning and you were sitting on me" "then next time don't pull me onto your lap" "fine, I'll just let you roll off the edge and fall into the acid so you can look like Miah for the rest of your life, actually on second thought, you might like that" he threw himself up and pushed her backwards into the platform railing "maybe I should let you drop" he growled out through his teeth, she scowled at him and he pushed her further back, just as he was about to push her even more his phone began buzzing, he threw his head back and groaned "we never get to have any fun, do we doll?" he sent her devilish wink and let her go, he grabbed his undershirt and started throwing it on as he jumped off the platform and was out of sight.

Jax and Jason laughed and shoved each other as they walked across the road to get to school but a long limousine stopped right beside them, the window rolled down and both boys eyes widened "hello there children, it's been a long time" "uncle Ozzy!" Jason said excited, Oswald grinned and opened the car door, they both climbed in "so, where to boys?" "school" they both whined and Oswald chuckled and instructed the driver to take them to their school, Nyssa unlocked the front door to her house and stepped into her empty home, she sighed and poured herself an orange juice "and here I thought you had moved" she whipped around and grinned widely and ran into the strangers arms "Ed! what the hell are you doing here?" "decided it was time for a visit" "is Ozzy with you?" "of course, we never travel apart, but he's a little busy right now" "oh, well sit down I'll get you a drink, and tell me everything you've been up to" "well Oswald and I have an announcement but I'll wait for him, but how have you been?" "could be better, I have 5 kids and I feel like I'm drowning" Ed chuckled and patted her back.

Evie was cleaning glasses on the counter when Oswald limped into the club "what can I get you, sir?" Oswald smiled and grabbed her soft pale hand "would you be a dear and fetch me your boss please" "right away" he sent her a lopsided smile and she walked to the back, Jerome leaned back in his chair with his feet kicked up on his desk when a slight knock landed on his door "come in" Evie cautiously stepped in and met his piercing greenish blue eyes "yes?" "uh, there's a man here asking for you" "a man eh?" he threw his feet to the floor and stood up and Evie led him to the mysterious man, Jerome grinned widely when he saw who it was "hello old friend" Oswald said standing up from his seat "Ozzy, I didn't think I'd ever see you again" he said patting his shoulder "well Ed and I had some business here and I had heard you were back" "for now, let's talk in my office" Oswald nodded and both men stepped in the back and sat at Jerome's desk "drink Ozzy?" "oh why not, I am on vacation" "that's the spirit" Jerome poured them both a whiskey and they got to catching up.

Jason, Jax and Crimson sat on the edge of the Gotham harbor bridge, both boys had their legs dangling off the edge and Crim had her legs crossed "why do you think uncle Ozzy is here?" she asked her brothers and they shrugged "don't know, he said something about business with our dad" Jax said nonchalantly "maybe he knows where he is!" she shrieked excitedly but both boys just rolled their eyes "he doesn't want to see us Crim, if he did he wouldn't have left for four years and never tried to contact us" Jason said bluntly and her chest fell in disappointment "don't worry sis, we don't need him, we have each other" Jax said wrapping an arm around her shoulder and pulling her closer to lean into his shoulder "I miss him" she said fighting back her tears, Jason jumped up from next to Jax and sat beside Crimson and wrapped his arm around her other shoulder "don't worry, you don't need him when you have us" she smiled and wiped her pink cheeks.
