Chapter Thirty-Three: Bumps and Obstacles

Nyssa laid in the bed nervously and Jerome held her hand reassuringly "it's going to be okay doll" "I'm scared Jerome" "you're tough baby, it'll be okay" Lee walked into the room "I need you to lift your shirt for me and lay back" Nyssa did as told and Lee wheeled in an ultrasound monitor "what's going Lee?" Nyssa asked worriedly "we need to confirm something" she put the gel on her stomach and moved the monitor around and gasped "I guess we have our answer" "what is it?" she asked looking at the monitor "there's two embryo's, you're having twins Nyssa!" "what!?" she said shocked "excuse me?" he asked equally as shocked "congratulations you two!" Lee moved the monitor to the side and smiled "everything is perfectly fine, you were just experiencing spotting, they're perfectly healthy, I'll let you both have some space" she sent them a warm smile and left the room.

The car home was very awkward, they didn't say two words to each other they walked into their room and Jerome shut the bedroom door and grunted "Jerome-" "one baby, that was hard enough but two!? we already have two kids" "I am not getting rid of my babies Jerome!" "then you're going to need a good fucking daycare service, because I'm not staying at home with 4 kids" "what happened to helping me through this?" "that was before I knew we're going to have an actual litter on our hands" "baby's happen Jerome, there is twin genetics from your side of the family, of course this was bound to happen" he just grunted and paced the room she scoffed and sat on the edge of the bed "so you're just going to pout like a baby?" "what the fuck do you expect me to do!? you are my wife and are pregnant with my brothers baby's" "we weren't together! how about you and my sister!? or are we just forgetting about that!?" "I didn't know who she was!" "we've both made mistakes Jerome, we can't keep going in circles here, I'm having these babies with or without your support" "you'd choose them over your husband?" "if I have to, I stepped up and raised Jason, I love him I do, but I didn't have to do that, but I still did because I loved you, I'm asking for that same support Jerome" "I can't just say I'll support you when I don't know if I really can" "how are we going to stay married if you can't support me?"

"Because this decision is a really big one and you haven't even asked me how I felt about any of this! I'm always checking on you, I was constantly asking you if you needed a break from taking care of Jason or asking you if you were comfortable, you've done nothing but criticize me and accuse me of cheating on you! I love you but sometimes I feel like I love you more than you love me" she slowly stood up and felt tears sting in her eyes "Jerome, I- I didn't know you felt like that" he rolled his eyes "of course you wouldn't, you never ask" "I'm listening to you now, talk to me, please" "do you even care? or are you just pretending to so I'll be okay with this?" "Jerome, I do care for you, I always have.. I'm sorry I didn't show it, but I love you more than you know" she slowly walked up to him and grabbed his hands "I love you Jerome, I'm so sorry you've been feeling this way, I'm here and I'm listening to you, I hear you and I'm sorry I didn't before" he sighed and squeezed her hands back lightly "I don't want to lose you Nyssa, but I don't know how many more surprises I can take in this marriage, it just feels like everything just keeps going wrong for us" "then we just have to fight a little harder, I want to fight Jerome" "I do too, doll" she smiled and he sent a warm smile in return "you're everything I've ever wanted Nyssa, I can't lose you" "you won't" she wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him down and kissed his lips.

The door flung open and in ran their two small children "mommy! daddy!" they said excitedly, Nyssa and Jerome chuckled and cuddled their kids "are you okay mommy?" Jason asked and Jerome ruffled his hair "mommy was just feeling a little sick, your new brothers or sisters were just wanting some attention" "mommy's having a baby!?" Crimson said excitedly and they both smiled "I'm having two babies" their faces lit up and they hugged her tightly "I can't wait!" "I can get a brother!" Jason said excitedly "we don't know that yet, it could be two girls or two boys or a boy and a girl" Nyssa said sitting on the bed and they climbed up next to her "I want a sister" Crimson said happily, Nyssa pulled them both close and kissed their heads then looked up at Jerome who was smiling at her, he grabbed her hand and kissed it lightly "I'm here for you baby, whatever you decide to do" "you already know the answer" he chuckled and kissed her forehead "I know doll" she smiled and he pecked her lips "ewwww" the two kids said and they both chuckled.

Later that evening Nyssa laid in bed and stroked both of her kids bright red hair's as they slept on her, Jerome quietly walked into the room with a devilish smirk "what's that look for?" he carefully moved Jason then Crimson off her and in a quick movement pulled her up and she wrapped her legs around his waist and she giggled quietly"shhh, we've got time before they wake up" he said placing his pointer finger on her plump lips "what do you say Mrs Valeska?" she crashed her lips into his, he quietly carried her into the guest bathroom, he locked the door and sat her onto the basin and kissed her neck "we only have about 20 minutes" she said running her hands through his spiky red hair and he grinned sinisterly at her "challenge accepted" she laughed quietly and he threw her shirt off her.

Nyssa sat out on the back patio with a book in hand "twins huh?" she smiled and sat her book down "yep, are you and Ed ever gonna have kids Ozzy?" Oswald snickered and sat down next to her "kids isn't really apart of our plan" "do you think I'm doing the right thing?" "I've always known you to be someone that does the right thing and giving these babies a chance to experience a life is the best thing you could do" "we're both criminals, what kind of life is that for children?" "do you regret having Jason and Crimson in your life?" "god no!" "you'll feel that exact same way once you have these babies, you're just emotional right now" "I just don't want to disappoint any of my kids, I know I'm not the ideal mother, but I'm trying to give them the best life I can" "you are doing an amazing job, never think you're not" "I have to do something that's really going to piss Jerome off" "it has to be done" "I know.. I just don't want Jerome to throw a tantrum over it" "Jeremiah has a right to know about his unborn children, Jerome will just have to suck it up, he married you knowing there was going to be bumps and obstacles" "you're a good friend Ozzy" "I'm always here, whenever you need Nyssa" he stood up and pulled her in for a hug.

 Oswald walked inside and she sighed and pulled out her phone and dialed a number "hello?" "Jeremiah.." "why are you calling me? is everything okay?" "uh-" "did Jerome hurt you?" "no- no it's nothing like that.. could we meet up when I get back to Gotham?" "of course darling.. are you sure you're okay?" "it's important, but I'm okay" "I'll see you when you get back darling" "thank you Miah" "anything for you" I could hear the sadness in his tone and he hung up quickly, she sighed and sat her phone down "there you are, everything okay doll?" Jerome crouched down in front of her "I just called Jeremiah to meet up when we get back" Jerome fought his annoyance back and nodded "okay, but I'm going with you" "as my husband or as his angry brother?" "both, but mostly as your husband, you want me to support you.. this falls under that" "please don't try and fight with him then" "I promise I won't" she nodded and leaned in and pecked his lips, he stood up and pulled her up in front of him and sighed "what's wrong handsome?" "I just- don't want this weekend to end and have to back to the real world again so soon" "it has been a nice extended honey moon" "it's definitely been unexpected" "but, there's been some good times right?" "the best times, doll" she smiled brightly and he pulled her closer to him "I love you Nyssa" "I love you too, Jerome" he smiled and noticed her lightly shivering "let's go inside doll, it's cold out here" she nodded and he led her inside.
