Chapter Fifteen: The End Of The Penguin And The Riddler

Nyssa opened her eyes and Talia stood before her, she started panicking was her being saved all a dream? Talia laughed wickedly "oh Nyssy.. Ed didn't get you angry hm? maybe this will" Tabitha dragged a beaten up Jerome and Nyssa screamed out "no!" Talia smirked "join us.. or he's dead" Nyssa shook and Jerome weakly shook his head "go to hell.. you crazy bitch" Talia shrugged "fine.. kill him" Tabitha pointed her gun and shot him in the head "NOOO!" Nyssa threw herself up screaming out loudly, suddenly her door busted open and someone held her closely and she sobbed "Nyssa.. it's okay.. it's okay, you're safe" she looked up and her eyes met with chocolate brown eyes "Tee, it was.. I" "I know.. it was the same nightmare wasn't it?" she asked and Nyssa nodded, it had been 2 weeks already but she would always get the exact same nightmare, and it was always terrifying, she didn't ever want to be back there again.

Lucky held her close and patted her back "do you want me to stay in here for the night?" Nyssa nodded her head and Lucky slipped into the bed next to her and hugged her tightly, Jerome stood by her door out of eye view and watched Nyssa cuddle up to Lucky, he had avoided her the past 2 weeks but he still checked on her without her noticing him, Lee said the baby was okay and her stomach was getting noticeably bigger, he stepped away from the door after determining that she was okay and he walked back to his room.

In a house on the other side of Gotham a couple laid in their bed, one wide awake and holding his partner, his partner stirred and opened his eyes "Oswald? why are you awake?" "can't sleep" Oswald said defeated, Ed sat up and looked down at his partner "what's on your mind?" "what are we doing?" Ed looked at him confused "well, hopefully sleeping" "no.. I don't mean right now.. I mean, we used to run this city correct?" "yeah, but the Valeska's do now" "what if.. what if we ran our own city" "Oswald, are you suggesting.. we leave?" Oswald sat up and sighed frantically "this city has gone completely nuts! psychopaths are running the place.. and look what happened to you because we got involved with the Valeska's" Ed shook his head "Nyssa is our friend.. I got hurt trying to save her, and I don't regret it" "and I love you for helping her.. but she's not our responsibility.. do you really think Jerome or Jeremiah are going to let us go near her once that baby is born" "what if we don't like it away from Gotham?" "then we can always come right back" Ed thought on it for a minute and smiled "on.. one condition" Oswald looked at him puzzled "sure?" "marry me" Oswald's jaw dropped "Ed.." "marry me Oswald.. we'll leave Gotham together and start a life of our own" "yes.. yes I'll marry you" they both beamed brightly and Ed grabbed his face and kissed him lovingly.

The next morning Nyssa woke up to laughing downstairs, she slipped out of her bed and left her room to see Barbara and Lucky talk to Oswald and Ed "Ozzy, Eddy!" she beamed running down the stairs and hugged them both "you're glowing, my dear" Oswald said and she smiled "I didn't know you guys were coming over today" "well.. Oswald and I have some news, for you three" Ed said slightly sad "what's wrong?" they both sighed "we're leaving Gotham" Oswald said "and.. we're getting married" Ed finished, Nyssa didn't know how to feel, she was extremely happy for them, but she was also heartbroken that they were leaving "congratulations!" Lucky said and hugged them both "about time you guys decided to tie the knot" Bab's said nudging them playfully, but they could hear her underlining sadness in her tone "you guys are really leaving?" Nyssa asked and they nodded "we need a fresh start.. Gotham has just become too crazy for us" Oswald said and she nodded "I'll miss you both" she said pulling them into a tight hug and they smiled "trust me.. we'll miss you just as much" Oswald said assuring her.

The next week went by quickly and everyone was standing outside of Jeremiah's house, preparing to say their final goodbye's, Nyssa had tears in her eyes as she hugged Ed tightly "no tears, this isn't good bye forever" she nodded "I'm gonna miss you" he smiled "I can't be bought.. but I can be stolen with a glance, I'm worthless to one.. but priceless to two" she smiled brightly through her tears "I love you too, Eddy" he pulled her in for a final hug, Oswald walked to Barbara who was trying to hide her sadness "finally, you've finally decided to leave" she said jokingly and he smiled "I'll miss our arguments" he said and she felt tears pool in her eyes and she flung her arms around him "I'll miss you, penguin" "I'll miss you too" they pushed apart and straightened up, Jerome walked to Ed and shook his hand "as always, not much of a hugger rid" Ed smiled and nodded "take care of her.. she's going to need someone" Jerome looked to Nyssa who was hugging Oswald and crying "I'll do my best" Ed nodded understanding that he was fighting his inner demons when it came to Nyssa, after saying good bye Ed jumped in the car and waited, Oswald walked to Jerome "I guess this is it, pengy" "I won't miss your humor" he said and Jerome smiled "good luck" he said and Oswald looked to Nyssa and back to Jerome with a smile "you too.. old friend" Jerome patted him on the back and Oswald got in their car, Nyssa waved them goodbye and they drove off, Ed looked to Oswald and smiled and received a smile back, he took his partners hand and looked ahead, this was the end of The Penguin and The Riddler in Gotham.. now they were Edward Nygma and Oswald Cobblepot, newly engaged lovers ready to start their new lives.
