June's POV

"The Brandy Brothers are the most difficult adversaries we have ever face. Except for The Mechanic of course," he says, noding his head towards me. I don't need to be reminded of that right now. "Anyway," he says with a wave of his hand, "they're tiwns that have taken a syrum which makes them almost invincible and they've been terrorizing the town for a couple of weeks already. And no matter what strategy we try, they always seem to be too quick, or too strong, or whatever. It's just, it's so frustrating!"

His little outburst shocks me at first, but then I smile at his passion and authentic frustration. I reach out and run my hand up and down his forarm a little before retracting. I made a gesture with my hand, signalling him to continue.

"So, the day you woke up they struck again. This time they had recruited a couple of friends to rob a munitions factory for God knows what. One chick is flexible as hell and a killer hand-to-hand combatant. And one dude is part robot. Like, how the hell are we supposed to beat that? I feel like we've failed."

"You'll get them. I'm sure you will. This past week that I've been here, I've been able to see the dynamic you guys have and it's powerful. Don't stop trying. You can do it."

He smiles and I smile back. What I didn't expect was the look of awe and appreciation he gives me. It warms me up inside and I just want to keep this moment.

"Well, it's getting late. Let's get you home."

We call the waiter, get our bill, pay and head out to the parking lot, me with both hands on his arm. He opens the passenger door, but this time doesn't get in and instead helps me into the car. I see him walk around the front and hop into the driver's seat.

It doesn't take long for us to get back 'home' and soon enough we're waiting for the elevator to come down. I look over to Hawk who is watching the number dial above the elevator door. I notice his beautiful jawline and perfect hair. I scan down and see his hand so close to mine.

I reach over and slip my hand into his and quickly look towards the elevator. Out of the corner of my eye I see him glance at our interlocked hands and then look up at me, back down then towards the elevator again. I smile to myself.

The elevator bells dings alerting us to its arrival. To me it only alerts me to the bubble that's fomed in my chest. I hate elevators.

We step in. Hawk pushes the button to our floor then stands next to me again, never letting go of my hand. My breathing starts to shallow and I feel the panic begin to bubble. I feel a gentle, but firm squeeze on my hand and I look up into Hawk's amazing grey eyes. Though they're the colour of a storm, they are as calming and comforting as a tranquil lake. My panic subsides and I relax.

In no time we reach our floor and the terrifying ride is over. Again, I rush out of the metal box as fast as I can, releasing our hands. And again, I hear a chuckle from behind me. I just shrug it off and walk down the hall towards our door.

Being the gentleman that he is, Hawk opens the door and lets me in first. First I hear the moaning, and then I see the cause of the moaning. Eagle and Falcon are fucking right in the living room.

Her back is on the couch and her legs are over his shoulders. They're both gripping onto the back pillow and completely lost in each other. For a moment I'm lost in what's going on, but then Eagle screams out, "Oh, Declan! Declan! Yes!"

Then we hear, "That's right Little Eagle, tell me who makes you feel this good!"

My hand flies to my mouth. I don't know if I want to gasp, throwup or what, but I'm stunned into paralyzation. Hawk slowly turns his head to me and our eyes lock. Then we lose it; he cracks into hysterical laughter and I burst into a fit of giggles.

The moaning and yelling stops immediately and they both grab the clothes that are laying close by and try to cover themselves, but fail, which only perpetuates our hysteria. They are not so amused, however, and just stare at us until we calm down.

"What the hell?" Falcon yells. I flinch a little, hoping it wasn't too obvious, but it seems that everyone noticed. Hawk wraps his arms around my shoulder immediately, as if sheltering me and Falcon apologizes for raising his voice.

"Sorry man," Hawk says casually, raising his free hand in defense. "It's not like we came back early or anything. How was I supposed to know you and Eagle were going to get it on right in the living room?"

I giggle slightly again and the two of them just stare at me, but it isn't an angry or condemning gaze, instead they're shocked to hear the sound of amusement come from me. Both their faces visibly relax and they smile.

"Did you have a good night?" Eagle pipes up.

"Yeah, I did actually. Hawk was a perfect gentlemen and I got to know more about you guys and about myself."

Falcon not so discreetly eyes Hawk and gives him a questioning look. Ah, Hawk talked about the original plans with him.

"It was a great evening, but I think Kitten here has had enough surprises this evening," Hawk says looking down into my eyes again. His face is so close to mine, I can feel his breath on my face.

I can't understand why I feel so safe with him and this gut feeling I have in my stomach. For once in my life I actually want to kiss a man of my own free will. Is that normal? Without giving it much more thought I lift my head, closing the distance between our faces and connect our lips softly.

I pull away quickly, say goodnight and rush to my bedroom. It really has been a long night and I'm ready for bed. Maybe tomorrow I'll start thinking about everything that happened tonight, but I just want to savour the good vibe I'm feeling now.

After washing up and changing, I crawl into bed and quickly fall asleep. Some time later I'm slightly woken by the dip of the bed behind me and a hand stroking my hair softly. Hawk mumbles something under his breath, which I can barely make out to sound like "Goodnight, little kitten. I love you. I wish you knew how much." Then the touch is gone and he settles on his side with his back facing me.

Time. It'll take time to get used to all this. But I'm willing to wait as long as it takes.
