~Delilah's POV~
"Are we hanging out this weekend?" Juli asked as we all walked towards the cafeteria for lunch. I frowned and shot her an apologetic smile. "Actually, I have to do all of my makeup work from last week still. I probably won't be able to make it." I said, disappointed.
We entered the cafeteria and Tate and I sat down at the table whilst Juliana and Kailee went through the lunch line. I packed my lunch because it was easier for me and Tate packed his because his parents didn't want him eating the school food. They were kind of obsessed with making him maintain a certain diet, but it wasn't my place to judge. Tate didn't really seem to like it, though. I think he wanted to be able to eat whatever like a normal teenage boy. I'd be upset if I couldn't eat what I wanted, too.
"You're sure you can't hang with us, Dell?" Tate pouted, and I shook my head. "Probably not. I'll try, though. Promise." I smiled at him and took out my turkey sandwich and dr. Pepper, beginning to eat my lunch. Juli and Kailee came to join us at the table and Juli sat by me while Kailee was on the opposite side of the table, sitting right across from me as per usual.
All of us were in the middle of eating when Kailee suddenly gasped, whipping her head towards Juliana in excitement. Juliana looked stunned until Kailee squealed out, "He's looking at me!" She giggled and her light blue eyes kept darting somewhere behind me, a blush in her pale face. She ran a hand through her dyed blonde hair and quickly turned her face, stealing a glance at Juliana out of the corner of her eye. "He's still looking at me, isn't he?" She giggled, causing Juli to glance back and then shrug. "Kinda looks to me like he's glaring, but I guess at least he's looking...?" Juli responded, sounding uncertain.
Both Tate and I exchanged confused glances before I swiveled around in my chair, wondering who and what they were talking about. Why would anyone be glaring at Kailee? That made no sense.
It took me a moment before my eyes found the tall boy that I knew they were talking about, but I didn't expect to find him glaring back at me. Surprised, I blinked and furrowed my brows, wondering why he was glaring at me like that. He leaned forward in his chair and he continued to silently glower at me. I realized that he hadn't been looking at Kailee but rather glaring at the back of my head. Of course I didn't tell Kailee that, though, because I didn't want to dampen her mood.
Keeping my eyes on his, I cocked my head to the side in confusion, silently asking what was wrong. As far as I knew, I hadn't done anything...except for hitting him with the door again this morning. That must be it.
Luke suddenly stood up from his seat and I whipped back around in my chair, continuing to quietly eat my sandwich. Kailee glanced behind me at him when he stood up and she watched him for a minute before squealing in excitement at Juli. "Oh my gosh, he's totally coming over!" She exclaimed, giggling. I took a large bite of my sandwich and heard a pair of footsteps stop behind my chair, but I pretended like I didn't notice. However I knew it was Luke because both Juli and Kailee were gazing up directly behind me with wide eyes, looking starstruck. Tate didn't seem to care either way what was going on.
"Hey, deli sandwich." Luke said, roughly poking me on the back of my head. I flinched and turned around to look up at him, frowning. "Did you just call me a deli sandwich?" I asked, confused. He ignored my question and said, "Your backpack is half open, in case you didn't notice."
I looked at my backpack as it hung off the back of my chair and saw that it was, indeed, half open. A gasp left me and I quickly zipped it shut, wondering how I hadn't even noticed it was open. With my bag now securely zipped shut, I lifted my head up. "Thank y—" I stopped myself short and blinked at the empty spot where he used to be standing, a frown forming on my face as I looked around to see where he was.
But I didn't see him. He was already gone.

"Are we not going to talk about what happened at lunch?" Juliana huffed as I sat in seventh period with her and Kailee, the three of us sitting at our desks. "Huh?" I asked, looking over at her.
She raised her dark brows and sent me a look. "You know what I'm talking about. That new guy talked to you like he knew you." She pointed out, looking rather curious. Kailee watched on in silence, paying extra close attention. "Do you know him or something?" Kailee asked when I said nothing. I paused and then shook my head because I didn't really feel like I knew him. "We just have PE together. Plus I accidentally hit him with the door when I was coming into school...twice." I shrugged, playing with a strand of my hair.
Juliana snickered in amusement while Kailee gasped, her blue eyes wide. "So he's talked to you before, then?!" She giggled. "Do you know his name?" She asked, sounding excited to get some information about him from me. "His name's Luke, but you didn't hear that from me." I told the both of them, shaking my head. If Luke knew I'd told random people about him, I had a feeling he would be at least a little annoyed, even if I was only telling them his name. He struck me as the kind of guy who liked to keep to himself, or at least tried to. In the week and a half that he had been here so far, he was pretty popular already. Mostly because the girls were fawning over him and his good looks.
"Tate told me you hit someone with a door, actually, but I didn't know it was him!" Juliana laughed, seeming to find this utterly hilarious. My face burned and I huffed in embarrassment. "Why do you and Tate think it's so funny?" I grumbled, and she grinned widely at me. "Because it is." She said simply.
I huffed and slouched against my desk, pouting. "Whatever." I mumbled, attempting to just dismiss the topic altogether. But Kailee wasn't having that, not if she could help it. "What does he smell like?" She asked, causing me to shoot her a concerned look. "Kailee, that's a creepy question, and I don't know. I wasn't paying attention to that." I told her, making her pout. She seemed disappointed with the lack of information that I was able to provide. "Sorry, but it's not like I really know anything about him except his name, and that he doesn't like getting hit with doors." I said.
Not to mention he doesn't like my scooby doo fruit snacks, and he thinks I'm too childish.
"Why? Can't you get close to him and put in a good word for me?" Kailee whined. I awkwardly rubbed the back of my neck and shook my head. "Mm, something tells me that isn't possible. After me hitting him with the door, he doesn't seem to like me very much." I admitted, giving her a small apologetic smile. "Sorry." I added.
She pouted but just nodded her head, accepting it. "Okay. That's fine." She assured me, giving me a smile. I grinned and tapped the eraser end of my pencil against my desk, looking down at the smooth wood surface. "Did you finish question number six?" Juliana asked from beside me, shooting me a helpless look. I glanced at her paper and saw she was stuck on question six. "Ya, I'm finished already." I answered, leaning towards her a little so I could explain it. I tried to turn a little in my seat and roughly hit my knee against the metal bars of my desk, making me hiss in pain and sit straight instead.
"Geez!" Juliana and Kailee giggled softly. "Are you okay?" Kailee grinned, and I huffed as I nodded my head. "I'm just dandy!" I assured, looking back at Juli's paper again. "Now, then, what I was going to say is that you have to..." I began to help her out with the problem, knowing she wasn't very good at physics. She seemed to hate it, in fact. "Oh, I see." She mumbled, filling in the rest of the information.
I smiled and looked up at the clock, checking what time it was. "What about this one?" Kailee asked, wanting some help as well. I looked at her as she sat across from me and tried to focus, beginning to give her some help as well.
For some reason, I was anxious to get to PE already. And I hate exercise, too.
