~Delilah's POV~
I waited until Luke came out of the bathroom again, my heart pounding in my chest as I pulled on a pair of high top white converse. All I could think of was him, of the way his wet hair dripped, the droplets of water trailing down his broad chest. Or how pink his lips were, or how blue his eyes looked.
It had given me the shock of my life to look up and be greeted with a face full of his body, but it'd be a lie if I said I hadn't enjoyed it at least a little.
When Luke finally came out of the bathroom I grabbed my backpack and got up from my bed, pulling up my jeans and making sure my top covered my belly through my reflection in the mirror. I had already put on my mascara and filled in my brows whilst Luke was in the shower, so I didn't need to put on anything else. Plus I had brushed out my hair, which now just fell down my back in long, thick waves. "You ready to go?" Luke asked as he grabbed his own backpack and swung it over his shoulder, snapping me out of my thoughts. I looked at him through the reflection in the mirror and nodded, grabbing my phone from my dresser before I slid it into my back pocket.
The two of us left my house, which I made sure was securely locked up, and then I followed him down to his car. "You know, I'm glad that you're here so I don't have to walk to school." I confessed suddenly, causing him to look up at me from the other side of the car. He looked much larger than the car, and I imagined it was the exact opposite from his perspective when he looked at me. "Is that all I'm good for? Being a chauffeur?" He asked, placing a hand on his chest to pretend as if his feelings were hurt. I heard the car doors unlock and yanked it open, hurriedly shaking my head as I stared at him. "That's not what I meant!" I exclaimed, hoping he didn't actually believe that I'd meant anything close to that.
However it was pretty clear he was only teasing when he smirked at me and opened the door, getting into his car. I quickly slid into the passenger's seat and slammed the door, pulling on my seatbelt as I looked over at him. "Thanks for spending the night last night, by the way." I said softly, scanning my eyes over his side profile as he backed out of the driveway. He merely spared me a glance and then dismissively waved his hand, brushing it off. "No biggie." He muttered. I smiled to myself and turned away, staring out the window until we arrived at school.
When we got out of his car, I noticed that there were a lot of people looking our way, staring at the two of us in ways that made my gut twist anxiously.
"Why are they staring?" I whispered to him, hurrying to his side as we walked towards the front doors. He looked around at the people who were staring at us and then glanced down at me, leaning a little bit closer. "They probably think that we're either dating or fucking." He said ever so casually, causing my eyes to widen as I whipped my head up to look at him. "What?" I gasped, taken aback. "Why would they think that?" I asked, furrowing my brows in confusion. Was it just because I had come to school with him? It couldn't be, that would be a ridiculous reason to come to a conclusion like that.
Luke raised a brow at me. "I imagine you perfectly well know my reputation, bubbles." He simply responded, pulling open the door. It surprised me a little when he stepped to the side and held it open for me, wanting me to go first, but I appreciated it nonetheless.
As I walked through the threshold, I took a moment to think about it and I realized that it probably wasn't so far fetched to think that he and I were involved, after all. He may have been new here, but he had managed to have several girls already fawning over him, vying for his attention. Though as far as I knew, he had only ever been flirting with Kailee. I looked down at the floor, suddenly feeling absolutely terrible about what Luke and I had done. I'd let him touch me, kiss me—things that I had never let anyone do to me before, and I had feelings for him on top of that. Realizing this set the final nail in the coffin, reminding me that he and I couldn't ever become more than friends. Kailee liked him too, and I didn't want to steal him from her. That wasn't the kind of person I was.
