~Delilah's POV~

The next morning I got up and took a long shower before school, plopping down on my bed after I'd gotten out. Time to do my makeup.

I didn't usually wear very much makeup, because I didn't feel like I needed it. My tan skin was pretty clear of any blemishes or beauty marks, so I never really wore foundation or concealer. I didn't use contour because my jaw was sharp and defined, and I had pretty nice cheekbones, nor did I need to use bronzer. There was no need for those things to me. Buying them would just be a waste of money, and putting them on would be a waste of time. Plus I had gym, and I didn't exactly want to sweat in a full face of makeup. Ew.

As per usual, I applied some mascara on my lashes and filled in my neatly plucked brows, applying a little bit of highlight and blush before I put on some chapstick. It was very basic but it was good enough for me. Even the littlest things can make you feel a thousand times better about yourself.

I looked at the clock on my nightstand as I put on a pair of undergarments, trying to figure out how much time I had left. Being that it was almost seven thirty already, the answer was: not very much. Classes began at eight, and I still needed to eat breakfast and get dressed before I went to school. I hurriedly brushed out my long brown hair, leaving the natural waves down, hanging to my hips. Nearly managing to fall on my face as I turned around, I ran into my closet and yanked a dress off the hanger, knowing that it was definitely going to still be hot outside today. It was only August, after all. It never got cold until November, usually.

The cream colored dress I'd grabbed had little red cherries and tiny black polka dots on it, with thick straps and a white semi-sweetheart neckline with a bow in the middle. It was nice, and it fit my curvy figure just right. I hopped around as I pulled my socks on and then slid my feet into a pair of white high top converse. When I went to grab my backpack, I went into a frenzy when I saw it wasn't where I'd thought I'd left it, making me practically tear apart my closet until I found it hiding underneath a jacket that had fallen on top of it. I exited my closet with my backpack and saw it was already seven forty.

In a panic, I swiped on some deodorant and spritzed a little perfume on myself before fleeing to the kitchen in hopes of finding something to bring with me since I didn't have time to eat at home this morning. I ended up grabbing a granola bar and a couple of fruit snack pouches before I left my house, beginning to walk to school. It would've definitely been nice if I could drive to school, but I didn't have a car. The bus also didn't come to my neighborhood, so I couldn't even take the bus. I was forced to walk, but I honestly didn't mind it. It was calming, though it wasn't ideal on days I was running late, like today, because it was a twenty minute walk there.

Even so, I didn't have a choice, so I just kept on walking, tucking the fruit snacks into my bag as I did. I pulled out the cold water bottle I'd brought with me and opened my granola bar, beginning to eat it. As I was walking I passed the elementary school soccer field and threw the granola bar wrapper into the trash, popping the last bite into my mouth. It was not even eight AM yet, but I was already feeling too hot from the warm weather.

Relief flooded through me when I finally arrived at school, groaning as I cracked open my water bottle and took a sip. I swung open the door at the front of the school, not paying attention to my surroundings, and I felt the door smack against something hard on the other side. "Fuck!" Someone cursed, making me jolt in surprise as I swiveled around to see what had happened.

My brown eyes met a pair of very angry blue eyes, which were glaring down at me in annoyance. I frowned up at him and took a step away. "Are you okay?" I asked, worried.

The random boy scowled and crossed his arms over his broad chest. "You just swung a door into me!" He exclaimed, causing my face to warm in embarrassment. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to." I apologized weakly, guilt settling itself on my shoulders as I took a slight step closer. I had to tilt my head back a little more just to look up at him. "Whatever." He snapped, rolling his eyes as he pushed past me and headed into the building.
