~Delilah's POV~
I walked out of school with Luke a little more than a week later, glad that the day was over. He walked beside me to his car, slinging his long arm around my shoulder when I went to head over to the passenger's side.
He yanked me back into his side and I grunted in surprise as I smacked face first into his chest, frowning as I tilted my head back to look up at him. "Luke, people could see!" I said shyly, biting my lip. A grin grew on his lips as he raised a brow at me. "So, what?" He chuckled, playfully smacking me on my butt. "It's not like I'm doing anything they shouldn't see. I'm only holding you." He teased.
A soft giggle left me as I played with the fabric of his shirt, biting my lip. "Well, you're supposed to be taking me home." I responded, giving him a look. He just rolled his eyes, pressing me up against the side of his car with his arm still wound tightly around my waist. "We always hang out at your house after school. Don't you wanna go somewhere different? I'm starving, anyways." He suggested, his fingertips absentmindedly playing with the ends of my hair. I hummed in thought and sent him a curious look. "You're hungry?" I asked, hesitating slightly before I gave him a smile. "I guess if you're hungry, it's a different story. Are you in the mood for anything? Do you know where you want to go?" I questioned.
Luke hummed, using his free hand to dig into his front pocket to pull out his car keys, clicking a button on them to unlock his car. "How does Billie's sound? You been there?" He muttered, making me pause. Billie's was a local burger joint, which I had heard was pretty good. I'd lived here for many years now, but even so, I still had never been there before. "I haven't." I answered, shaking my head.
"Fuck's sake, bubbles." He gasped, looking down at me like I had committed a crime. "You're totally missing out. I went sometime last month, and their burgers are so goddamn good." He swore, causing me to giggle. Clearly, he really liked this place. "Okay, okay. Billie's it is, then." I agreed, trying to slip out of his arms.
"Wait," Luke complained, pushing me against the car harder as he ducked his head down. I tilted my head back to look up at him and slid my arms around to his back, feeling the muscles beneath his shirt. "What?" I snickered, cocking my head to the side. He huffed and twirled a strand of my hair around his pointer finger, gently pulling on it. "You gotta kiss me." He demanded in a mutter, his lips brushing my jaw.
"Right now?" I asked, shivers running up and down my body at the gentle way his lips ran over my skin. Even when he wasn't really trying, he knew how to tease me.
"When else?" He retorted, lifting his head just enough to leave his lips hovering above mine, his warm breath fanning my face. My lips twitched slightly and I pulled him closer, giving him a gentle peck on his lips before I tried to quickly slip away. "Unh-unh." He caught me as I went to duck under his arms, surprising me by picking me up in his arms. I squealed, my cheeks warming as I felt his hands on my butt. "P-Put me down! Or...Or at least moves your hands!" I exclaimed, gripping his biceps.
My legs had made their way around his waist of their own accord, clinging to him like a koala. Instead of moving his hands, or putting me down, he just grinned at me mischievously and then squeezed my butt in his hands, as if mocking me for my demand. "We've done far dirtier things to each other than me grabbing your ass, Lilah." He chuckled, his blue eyes sparkling with mirth at the way I huffed quietly.
"I thought you were hungry." I grumbled, changing the subject. He smiled and suddenly leaned his forehead against mine, making me blink rapidly at him, taken aback. "I am. So kiss me already." He insisted, clearly not going to let this go. Though I rolled my eyes when I leaned forward to kiss him, inside my heart was racing, and my insides felt as though they were filled with butterflies.
The kiss was soft and made my entire body feel as if it were melting, a warmth filling my cheeks at the way he gripped my bottom tighter. He made this little sighing noise against my lips, slanting his mouth into mine as he leaned his body into me more. I tightened my legs around his waist and let my hands wander from his biceps to his shoulders, feeling the broad span of his body under my touch, before my arms eventually wound around his neck. When he broke away from the kiss I shivered, not daring to loosen the tight hold my legs clung to him with. "You gonna let me set you down, or do you plan on staying here like this forever?" He wondered, his voice playful as he spoke into my ear.
"This is your fault." I accused him, glancing around the parking lot. There were students wandering around in front of the school, some of them heading towards their cars, while others were just standing there, like they had nowhere to go. "You picked me up, even though I'm wearing a skirt, and now there are people everywhere." I elaborated, my eyes flitting back up to his.
Luke smirked in amusement, his fingertips flirting at the bottom of pink plaid skirt as if he were about to push it up. "Calm down, bubbles." He started to chuckle when my eyes widened in a panic and I immediately grasped his wrists, stopping him. I peered up at him, trying to send him a threatening glare, but I assumed it didn't do much because he only grinned wider. "Nobody's gonna see anything. Just drop your legs down." He assured, patting the back of my thigh with one hand.
Though I first hesitated I eventually dropped my legs down, cautiously glancing around to be sure nobody had somehow seen anything they shouldn't. Nobody was paying us any attention, thankfully.
"So, to Billie's?" Luke asked, cocking his head as he opened his door. I nodded and hustled around to the passenger's side, sliding into his car before slamming my own door right as he did the same. We both put on our seatbelts and then he began to drive to Billie's, which I learned rather quickly was quite close to our school. The drive there was not even five minutes.
He parked the car in the rather empty lot before we both got out and he led me inside, the yummy smell of burgers and fries filling the restaurant. My stomach rumbled at the scent, making me realize just how hungry I truly was. I hadn't gotten to eat very much of my lunch today because Tate had stolen a good portion of it, even though I kept telling him only the Dr Pepper that I had brought was for him.
Because I was feeling pretty hungry I ended up ordering the same thing as Luke, which was a double cheeseburger with a side of fries. I looked up at him as he grabbed my hand after we ordered, beginning to drag me through the restaurant until we reached the soda fountains, which had cups, lids, and straws beside them. Luke got a large Sprite whilst I grabbed a medium cup, filling it up with Dr. Pepper. "You like Sprite?" I asked him, eyeing the clear iced soda in the clear cup he was holding.
"Don't judge," He said defensively, raising his brows at me. "Sprite's delicious. And besides, you get basic bitch Dr. Pepper." He teased, pinching my hip as he slid past me. My mouth gaped open as I rushed after him, a little bit offended. "D-Did you just..." I stammered, appalled.
"Call you a basic bitch?" He finished, glancing at me with a sly grin on his plump lips as he took a seat at a table. I huffed and frowned down at him, which only made him grin even wider, for some reason. "I didn't. I said Dr. Pepper is a basic bitch." He corrected, reaching out to grab my elbow. He pulled me down next to him and slid his arm around my shoulders, kissing my jaw. "I'd be an idiot to insult you after how far we've come since we met. Feels like it was only yesterday that you were slamming doors into my face." He sighed wistfully.
I cringed. "Please don't remind me of that. That was so embarrassing." I grumbled, shaking my head. I still felt really bad about it, too. Especially because I had hit him with a door more than just the one time. Luke just laughed, though. "It's kind of funny, actually. When I think back on it, it's almost like a good memory now." He said, surprising me a little. "A good memory?" I echoed, blinking at him. "Are you secretly a masochist or something?" I asked.
Again, he laughed. "No." He said. "I just like it because that's how we met. I didn't realize how much would come from that happening." He looked down at me and brushed a strand of hair from out of my face. His eyes were soft, looking at me in a way that made me feel like I was on fire. "And it was a very you thing to do, too." He added thoughtfully.
His words came naturally, then. "Maybe I should've expected to be swept in by a girl like you from the beginning, huh?"
