Alex’ P.O.V
“Cassadee, are you nearly ready?” I called from the kitchen where I was trying and failing at putting a necklace around my neck.
“Mummy, I don’t think I’ve put my shirt on properly,” I heard her say from the staircase. I walked from the kitchen to see my 4 year old sitting on the stairs with her top buttoned wrong. I laughed at her attempt. For 4 years old she was very independent, but always liked asking me for help. Although she has many friends at nursery and I have many friends who are adults, she was and forever will be my best friend.
I felt a presence behind me and turned around to be faced with Sam, as in Sam McTrusty. Yes the guy from Twin Atlantic.
“Hey Cass, you need some help?” He asked, his heavy Scottish accent coming through clearly as he spoke.
“Yes Daddy Sam,” She nodded. He knelt down in front of her and began to help her re-button her shirt the correct way. I smiled at them and returned to the kitchen to again attempt to put on my necklace.
“Does Mummy need help too?” Sam asked walking into the kitchen behind me.
“Yes,” I laughed. I held my hair up and Sam fastened the necklace almost instantly. I let my hair fall back into place and Sam placed his chin on my shoulder and arms around my waist. I leaned back into him and felt happy almost instantly.
I suppose I had best explain what exactly has happened in the last 4 and a half years. After finding out that I was pregnant, when I was on tour with Young Guns, You Me At Six and Bring Me The Horizon, I spoke to Dan after he, Matt and Sean hugged me until You Me At Six had to play that night. I told Dan that I couldn’t tell Josh I was pregnant. You Me At Six were just becoming big and me and a baby would probably prevent Josh from doing what he loved. I explained to Dan that I had to leave the tour and go back to Sheffield and possibly face the wrath of my mother and possibly the girls. Dan had given me the keys to his house and Matt bid me a tearful farewell. I couldn’t bring myself to say goodbye to Josh, or my brother. Josh would have begged me to stay and I would have ended up staying and probably had to end up telling him about the baby.
When I reached Sheffield, with Sean in his car that he had brought with him, we walked into my family home startling my mother and the Bring Me The Horizon mothers, who were drinking tea in the living room. A Thursday tradition, little did I know that it was mums day to host. She asked what I was doing home and why I was crying; I replied that it was cold outside and my eyes were just watering. We went upstairs and proceeded to pack up my things into the suitcases I had in my room and take them back downstairs without mum noticing. Sean and I had practically packed up my full room into boxes and pilled them into the cars, when mum noticed me carrying my duvet set downstairs. I remember seeing mums face when she saw the boxes taking up the back seat of Sean’s and my own cars. She broke down crying, asking me why I was leaving, her baby was flying the nest with no notice. I told her it was now or never and that it was for the best. She asked if it was because of my brother, where I was going to live. She even said she’d throw Matt out if it was because of him. I told her it wasn’t Matt. I hugged her before walking out with Sean to the cars. Sean got into his own car, as I opened the door to my car my mother took me into her arms and hugged me tightly. I promised I would keep in touch and that I’d see her soon. She smiled before walking to the door way and waving me off with the other mums that had become family over the years.
We arrived in Surrey around 8pm that evening. We got to Dan’s and took my things out of the cars and carried them indoors and placed them down. I took myself and Sean, at least 2 hours to take the stuff into the spare room and unpack the things I had. I’d probably need to buy a new chest of draws but other than that the room was perfect.
