January turned into February, and soon became March. March slid into April, and teachers started pressing on about exams.
"They're at the end of May, you should be studying your hardest."
Every teacher would say. One day in the library Melody just got up and said,
"I'm done with this. I'm going to watch the Quidditch team practice."
She set down her quill.
"Would someone tell me where the pitch is in relative location to the library."
She said in the same tone of voice as before.
"I'll come with you."
Clara jumped up. Lily sighed.
"I guess a break wouldn't hurt."
Se dropped her books into her bag.
"There was a notice on the board this morning, they're practicing all day."
Melody said and raced out of the library. She earned herself a glare from Madam Pince, but she wasn't there to receive it.

The players were zooming around the field, practicing elite maneuvers. Clara tried to name the ones she knew, and Melody guessed at a couple, but Lily had no idea what was going on.
"I don't really get the point of quidditch."
She said.
"Its like football, but in the air."
Melody pointed out.
"I don't get football, either!"
Lily exclaimed. Suddenly a whoosh of air flew into their faces as a player came up to them on a broomstick.
"You guys first years?"
The girl asked.
"Yes. We want to try out next year!"
Melody said.
"Cool! I'm Alice Wood, the captain. It's great to see that next year we'll have some new faces trying out!"
She smiled and waved good bye.
"I hope I can get on."
Melody said.
"I'm sure you'll do your best when the time comes."
Lily smiled.

The weather was very nice for early April, so Melody, Clara, and Lily stayed to watch the team until it started to grow dark. The three headed back for the castle, the twilight becoming night very fast. They had made it to the castle, and when Clara turned around she noticed someone on the pathway, headed in the wrong direction.
"You guys go on ahead, I need to check something."
Clara told Lily and Melody.
"Are you sure?"
Lily asked. Clara smiled.
"Yeah, positive."
Lily frowned but said okay. Clara watched as they slipped out of sight and raced back to the door. It was dark by now, and she knew she was breaking the rules by being out this late, but she was still curious.
"Lumos."
Her wand lit up and she held it to the ground, just enough so she could see but it would be hard for others to see it, even in the dark. The figures had moved to the young whomping willow tree, and one was pointing their wand at it. Clara heard a spell cast but it was too soft for her to recognize it. The tree branches stopped moving and the second figure slipped inside a hole in the ground. The first figure had started back toward the castle so Clara put out her light and started to sneak back to the castle. There was just enough light with the moon being full. She would check this out in the mourning.
