After the voice of Mr. Lordi faded into the morning light. Emily took one last look at all her surroundings: The park, the neighborhood and the sky. She put her hand on her heart and inside she felt something warm.
Mr. Lordi saved my life, after all this time he never gave up on trying to win me over. In my heart I don't think anyone could replace me as his one true love. He has always been there watching over me hoping I feel the same way and help him stop this war. After all the scary, but strong love he has been trying to give to me: I now know my heart has been touched inside and wants him. Emily thought. Then she made her decision. I'm going to the monster world to bond with him, she told herself.
Preparing to enter the monster world. Emily left a note for her family in case they returned while she was gone. Then she returned to the park. The park was starting to fill up with little kids, but Emily didn't care. She was still in her nightgown and no one noticed as she slipped behind the outhouse in the center of the park. Taking a deep breath she spoke clearly.
"Icon of Dominance." She chanted.
Then suddenly the ground shook beneath her and a dark vortex opened right under her and sucked her in.
Emily felt she was moving at the speed of light as she plummeted straight down through the vortex. She felt she was going to hell instead of the monster world, almost as if she had been tricked and her soul was going to be taken away.
A small light appeared and grew faster and faster until she was blinded. She shut her eyes and waited for the light to leave, but when she opened her eyes she was free-falling through a dark gray sky towards the bottom. The vortex closed up behind her and she screamed in terror wishing someone would catch her but no one ever did.
Soon the land became visible and Emily found herself slowing down in her fall until she was slowly floating to the ground to make an easy landing. That is unexpected she thought as she was gently set down on the ground with an unknown force.
Suddenly as Emily was just getting to her feet she heard the voice of Mr. Lordi echo all around her.
"So you have chosen to come. You have chosen wisely, but these woods are not safe. You will not find, that finding me will be as easy as you think. There are many dangers here that lurk in the shadows, there are those who desire your soul and they only come out at night, and there are those who want you consumed. Until you find me you are vulnerable to every danger in this world. Do not take your journey as a simple hunt as you humans would see to it as. I know that inside your heart you are a girl with determination. Do not disappoint me by dying, if you die then the war will begin and I will have to endure fighting your race once more as those before me did so. They've had their chances and blown them all. You will not make the same mistake, I know you desire peace but we shall see. When you find me, only then will I know how you feel about me."
Emily looked at her new surroundings. She was in a dark forest: the trees were leafless and eerie looking with bent and arched branches. The ground was covered in dead leaves and dried up dirt, to Emily she thought this place was not what she expected the monster world to be.
Where are the monsters, cemeteries and blood and flesh? She wondered and then looked around once more wondering if there were any monsters nearby, but she saw none. Not even a small one, it was too quiet than she expected. The wind blew a little and Emily hoped she would catch glimpse of at least someone who could help her but no one came. Emily began walking through the dark forest looking around every time she heard a strange sound hoping it would not be something unfriendly, she kept walking until she came to a sign pointing in several different directions.
Emily examined the each name on the sign searching for the one that could possibly lead her closer to Mr. Lordi; wherever he was. She knew that one must always think before choosing if given the option of places to go, but she was tempted to follow the direction of the sign that said "Overlord's Lair"
That must mean where Mr. Lordi lives, Emily thought. Wind blew through the trees as Emily went down the path the "Overlord's Lair" sign had told her to go. The trees looked a lot more eerie now with worn holes in them as if they had faces of their own.
Emily's heart began to race at the scarier surroundings as the wind picked up. She nearly jumped at every strange unfamiliar sound she heard. No I must be brave, I can do it for Mr. Lordi, she thought, as she walked deeper and deeper down the haunted dark path. Suddenly she spotted a shadow that quickly dashed through the trees to her left.
Emily went alert and turned to look where the creature had gone. She was certain it could have been something stalking her. Knowing the monster world now it was obvious there was going to be something trying to attack her without warning.
Emily decided to walk a little faster to avoid whatever it was in the trees watching her. The bushes began to shake and Emily began to jump inside and then she started to run as soon as heard the sound of something moving and emerging from the bushes. She looked back to see what it was and standing there was an eerie shadow-like monster she did not recognize with red eyes and a cloaked figure. The creature detected her right away and began to chase her. Emily ran faster; even more faster than she had ever run in her life.
The pathway began to become narrower and narrower for her to navigate as she tried to outrun the creature. She pushed her way through the long branches that were now extending out into her pathway of escape, and she leapt over logs tripping and falling several times while at it. Pretty soon just when she was about to run out of room to run her narrow forest path opened out into a cliff without warning and she had no choice but to jump.
The creature was closing in on her at any second, Emily looked down to see a river below, and so she jumped off the cliff and fell into the river below. The water hit her hard, it was cold and dark. Emily felt a serious shiver run inside her as she swam to the surface and headed for the shore on the other side. The forest on the other side turned out to be a lot darker as Emily reached the shore.
No matter how threatening everything around her was; Turning back was not an option. Emily looked back at the cliff behind her, she assumed she had lost the creature above her and then she entered the darkest part of the forest ready to face any unspeakable horrors that lay ahead without the use of a weapon to defend herself.
Emily heard sounds in the dark forest. Eerie sounds that were even more frightening than ever. I don't know what I'm going to find in there but nothing should make me turn back, not even something as scary as whatever is in there, she thought as she looked into the darker part of the forest as she walked. She assumed that whatever was in there could possibly be where Mr. Lordi was hiding, dwelling, waiting, and watching. Emily wondered if Mr. Lordi was still aware of her presence as if he knew she were coming to find him and be with him. She called out looking at the sky.
"Mr. Lordi give me strength. Why won't you just tell me where you are? I want to find you, I want to be with you!" There was no answer. Not even a soft whisper. Emily was left with no other option except to find him herself.
As the sky started to become darker, Emily sat down under a tree for a few minutes to catch her breath. She knew that she could not stop now, she had to keep moving. Walking through a haunted forest without knowing what to expect made her change her mind and she kept on going. The forest grew even scarier as it became darker and darker every moment but Emily knew she had to be brave. Everyone was counting on her now for survival and peace, and in her heart she wanted to do more than just bond with Mr. Lordi to save her world and his from certain destruction.
She wanted to bond with Mr. Lordi because she loved him, and never thought it would ever come to her that she was in love with him. The journey to him would not be easy and she was just getting started. Taking a deep breath she walked further into the dark depths of the forest. "For my world, for this world, for Mr. Lordi, for.......love." She said.
