Sunlight shone through the window and Emily opened her eyes to find herself lying on the living room floor. She sat up and looked around, the monsters and the Monsterman had vanished, all the lights and clocks were working again. To her, the house looked as if everything was once again normal as if nothing had happened last night.

No it wasn't a dream, I swear it wasn't. Emily thought, as she sat down on the sofa to recollect her thoughts on last night. She could remember everything from the moment the power went out all the way to when the Monsterman made his move. Emily's heart gave a thud she touched her neck she felt the kiss the Monsterman had left on there and the words he had said before she had fainted. He is in love with me? But why? She asked herself, as she continued to rub her neck where the kiss was as if it had left a mark. Then she got up to get ready for the day ahead of her.

Emily rode the public transit to her college in town. It was much better than going somewhere far away and living in residence, for she was not ready to leave home completely. She sat in the very back of the bus dressed in a black dress with a gothic texture, her hair was neatly brushed with a small silver tiara and she was wearing black mascara. She felt like the loner but it didn't bother her. Eventually the bus pulled over at the college campus and Emily made her way to class. She felt like restarting from the way things were before the concert as if it never happened even though she could not. As she made her way to class she pretended to act normal as if it really were a dream but part of her thought that others may have experience the same last night.

Emily reached her first class of the day and took her seat next to her friends Keon and David. She found it easier to befriend boys than girls.

"Hey Emily, how was the concert?" David asked her,

Emily looked at him. "Did you guys experience a blackout at your homes or anything strange last night? I did,"

"No blackout at my place." Keon replied.

Emily looked shocked inside. How could my house be the only one affected by the presence of the monsters? She thought. "The concert was great, they wanted to bring someone up on stage for the next song and they chose me, but I was the only one who came back," She said a little too quickly without thinking, but the others remained listening. "The reason I had a blackout my house was well, I think they came back for me.........the......the monsters......and then one of them.........he....." She whispered, sounding scared, and then she touched her neck again where the kiss was marked.

"What's wrong with your neck?" David wondered.

Emily paused as if she was too horrified to continue her story. "Maybe she's just hallucinating from the concert and there must have been a thunderstorm in her neighborhood that caused a blackout," Keon said. Emily shook her head. "No this really happened, I know I have no proof but I know I can find it." But it was too late to discuss any more details, the teacher had now entered the room and class begun.

Throughout the morning Emily tried to be normal. She no longer brought up the experience of last night to anyone who asked her how the concert was, but she had the feeling that whatever that Monsterman and his allies had done last yet they were going to find a way to strike at her once again. The only question was; when were they going to do that? Emily did not want anyone to think she was delusional, she was too afraid that someone might try to face the monsters with her and get killed in the process. Better I face them alone than with anyone else, she thought as she walked to her next class after spending her break studying. If they are coming back then I better know when they will. She told herself.

During her lunch break, Emily went deeper into her thoughts of last night. She ate alone, fibbing to her friends that she had extra studying to do even though she had no studying. Then later on in the day after her classes were over she went into the large study hall where all the computers were alone once again. She went into the back private room with the dimmed lights and enclosed work spaces and then she turned on the computer looking for answers. There must be a reason for this. She thought as she typed "Monsterman" into the search bar. The results turned out to be myths about monsters that were said to rise from below to conquer the world above. One article that caught her attention the most after thirty minutes of searching was called "One true love for a Monsterman" and then she began to read:
