TW: slight mention of blood, current events of the world taking place(corona)
Sorry if this chapter isn't that great, I've been really tired recently.
---> You chose to search in the bushes.

I said I didn't want to investigate the bushes any further, but there's a good chance his ring could be there. I start searching for the ring, ignoring whatever Diavolo is doing to the corpse...

After half an hour of searching this whole dead bloody garden, I can safely say it's not there. Maybe I can find a way to make him not kill me if I end up losing. I try to start a conversation with him, "So uh, right hand man huh?"

He looks at me, I continue, "What's it like? Must be pretty cool? I mean, that's a uh, a pretty high status."

"It's a lot of work, but I guess it may seem cool from an outsider's perspective." He replies, "What do you work as in the human world?"

"Oh uh, I don't have a job yet.. I'll probably just end up working at McDonald's or something. Haha..I wanted to be a scientist when I was younger though. I always thought they were cool because they get to mix a bunch of chemicals and stuff. I know that's not all a scientist does, there's lots of fields for scientists. Astrologers, astronomers, biologists, computer scientists, you get the point."

He smiles at me warmly, he sure does smile a lot. I still have a question for him, "How did you end up as a right hand man?"

He tenses up a bit, I guess I shouldn't have asked that. Probably something too personal, oops.

"Well, I was the heir to the throne but that wasn't something I wanted to do. So the first thing I did as king was hand that power and responsibility over to my friend and associate, Lucifer, and stepped down from the throne. He was in major dept to me so I gave him no choice to back down! Of course, I didn't leave all the work to him, so we basically traded places!" He explains to me in a cheerful tone, but I can tell he regrets his past decision just a little bit.

I give him a sympathetic look, "I guess it's a lot of pressure huh... Being king is a big deal, the whole world is in your hands. And now even though you stepped down, you're still buried in work and now regret. It must be hard for you..."

He looks at me and opens his mouth, but quickly shuts it as if he wanted to say something but didn't know what or just couldn't. Neither of us say anything for a while as we go back to what we were doing, but I do notice that he is leaning slightly closer to me as he decides to poke the bloody hand that was once connected to it's owner, "What's life like for you? In the human world I mean. I visit sometimes but I don't normally stay for long."

He wants to keep talking with me. I think about his question for a bit longer than I probably should, he looks at me curiously. I answer, "It's... something. This and last year weren't exactly the greatest. Everyone had to go to school virtually because of a virus that was spread. I failed a lot of my classes last year because I'm more of a hands on learner and we couldn't do much from at home, especially families that were broke like mine. Dad's been working all-time shifts ever since Papa died. I was looking to get a job as soon as I turned 16, but nobody would hire me. He probably won't recognize I'm missing for a while."

If it weren't for that stupid virus, my dads and I would still be a happy family, but they're both gone now. One's dead, the other is never around anymore...

"At least I still have my friends though, they text me pretty often. Their parents don't like me, so we never really hang out outside of school and parties." We can't go to parties anymore though. I try to go on to the positives, but end up going back to the negatives. I hate this. I cringe at the sudden heavy pang I feel in my chest, it weighs me down. I just want things to back to normal.

I've been silent for a while now. Diavolo awkwardly leans his head on me and rubs circles on the back of my hand as an act of comfort. We're silent once more, but the atmosphere isn't as tense anymore as we get comfortable.
