"SHIT" I wake myself up saying. I sat myself up and rubbed my eyes while trying to comprehend whether the clock was right. It was hard to see with the sun shining through the window.

8:22am

"SHIT" I cuss even louder knowing it wasn't my eyes.

*bzzzz bzzzz bzzzz*

My phone was ringing. My heart was racing so fast. I picked it up quickly while biting my nails.

"He-Hello"

"Raelynn Smith? This is Kirsty. You're new manager. You were supposed to be here at 7am."

"I know. I'm so sorry I-"

"No time for excuses! They need you over here for you to meet your new client. Hurry up!"

Before I was able to say another word she hung up on me. She wasn't messing around. And neither was i. I run around like a headless chicken trying to gather all my stuff. I shoved on the easiest clothes to put on, a green jumper and leggings, and went to brush my teeth while tying my shoes at the same time. I was brushing my hair while putting all my bags at the door.

God I was a mess.

After its all done I look back at the clock

8:27am

Huh. 5 minutes Raelynn. Not bad

I skimmed the room to make sure there was nothing I'd left behind. Thankfully there wasn't anything.

I ran out my room getting a few stares along the way. Which was fine. If I was looking at me right now I would stare too. I Chuck the Key over the counter

"Thank you!" I shout while running out the doorway. I hop in my car and speed off.

I hit the steering wheel out of frustration mixed with sadness. I didn't want them to think bad of me. I mean I would be showing up looking a mess and an hour and a half late. But I hope once they see what I have to bring to the table, they'll ease up a bit.

I decided not to get angry. I was 30 minutes away now. Not long. Just enjoy the drive and apologise when you get there.

After I said that to myself, I did enjoy the drive. I didn't realise how much of a small human being we all were compared to these buildings. It was scary but also quite calming at the same time. I couldn't describe the feeling apart from ethereal.

The streets were filled with lights, yellow taxis, loads of people rushing around in their suits to get to their job. Exactly how I pictured it to be.

This is the moment I knew I had made it. And I never expected something as big as New York. But I was here and I needed to enjoy it.

*take the next left to arrive at your destination*

I squealed in excitement. There it was. The UoFaD NYC. I just stared at it from my car. It was huge. Way bigger than the one in London. I grab all my designs, putting them in my bag that hung over my shoulder and hopped out of my car.

I took a deep breath in before walking in. I didn't have a lot of time right now to admire everything although that's something I will come around to doing. I just needed to look for Kirsty so she can tell me who my client was. This place was huge. Like, massive.

I eventually found where to go thanks to Kirsty's directions. I knock on the door and hear a squeal of excitement on the other side.

I was greeted with so much happiness, I thought she'd put me down for being late. She wasn't much older than me, maybe 21. Her long blonde hair was tied up in a high pony tail and was wearing a white blouse tucked into a black pencil skirt. She had the prettiest brown eyes, the sun reflecting off the window from the side made her eyes go a golden, honey colour. Her natural eyelashes were long and coated in a layer of mascara. She looked so much taller than me from the heels she was wearing. Her American accent was so nice, I didn't have much time to process it on the phone this morning because I was still only just waking up.

"I'm so sorry I'm la-" Before I had a chance to speak

"Oh my god I'm so happy you're here!! I need to run and grab a coffee. Do you want one?"

"Shouldn't I be doing that Kirsty seeing as you're my manager"

"Oh hush. It's fine. Do you want one? I'll be back in about 15minutes you can stay here and get all your designs out!"

"Umm a coffee does sound really nice right now. Thank you!"

Without hesitation I saw her walk fast down the Giant hallway to grab the coffee. I chuckle to myself and sit down on the brown leather couch. This room was really cosy. It was covered in loads of pictures of models wearing designed clothes. It was also filled with other pictures of artists performing, also wearing clothes specially designed for them. I had a brown bag over my shoulder that held all my designs.

I admire them and am proud of what I've drawn as I place them down on the glass table. I can't wait for some of these to be shown.

My train of thought was interrupted by a deep raspy voice

"Excuse me?"
