The pain in her chest was beyond any words she could describe. It felt like her soul was being torn from the tender threads of its cavern. Mailee wanted to thrash and scream so maybe some of this pain would disappear but her body frozen, like rigor mortis had set in. She could feel the pounding of her heart like a loud drum off beat from a tune. Mailee felt her last breathed leaving her body until...
Something soft and warm pressed against her lips. Her heart swelled and the pain ceased quickly like a candle being blown out suddenly and when they pulled away her body urged her brain to get closer; to get back to that source of pleasure.
The pain returned for just a moment before a numbing feeling crawled from her toes up through her body. It landed on her heart and warmed her comfortably. Mailee's muscles seemed to relax and the energy courses through her body.
Mailee's heart began to pump faster again, the bright light in front of her dimmed to a normal shine under her eyes. She took in a deep breath, her chest Rising high and then falling. She felt a smile slip onto her lips.
"AHHH!" A scream of pain jolted her comfortable safe feeling. Her brain began to process the sound, finding a connection to the familiar voice. Another scream of pain made her spine shiver and the feeling of power coursing through her shot into her; it was her that was screaming in pain she relied.
Her eyes shot open revealing bright crimson eyes of a phoenix and a loud gasp filled the empty chamber after the screams. Mailee was too shocked and hurt by the outcome that she didn't even try to sit up or get up. So instead she just rested her head against Soveliss' chest hoping to releave some of the headache she had acquired.
She didn't want to look at him, so she turned into his chest. She could feel the tears for Raloric start to prick her eyes as she fought to keep them from falling. Soveliss had noticed her change in demeanor and he tightened his hold on her slightly to make her feel protected.
"I got you," he said staring at the water in front of them, like it was the most interesting thing in the world.
"Thank you..." Mailee trailed off exhausted and started to shake from the cold now from the freezing waters around them. She felt Soveliss' coils slid off her body and felt his hands lift her up higher. Soon he started to make his way towards Mira as he carried Mailee.
"No need to thank me. I told you I will do anything for you," he stated not even looking down in her direction as he swim. He soon made it to Mira's island and laid Mailee down on the grass bed. Soveliss and Mailee glanced over at Mira to find her looking at Mailee with a face full of curiosity.
"Welcome back, My High Lady. I'm glad you didn't give into the darkness completely. We were very worried that we had lost you there for a moment." Mailee simply nodded and waited for the Treant continue. Silence fell over them before Mira decided to speak again. "I want you to know that We are here for you. I want you to know that this chamber is a safe place for you and can tell me anything that's going on in your mind. Think of this as a meeting between friends. We all have secrets and emotions that we lock away like a hidden diary, but some way, somehow...everyone wishes to divulge these secrets without judgement. We are here to be that person for you, Mailee."
Mailee looked at Mira, her face gently in the sun, and thought that the Treant would somehow make a great mother one day. For a moment tears simmered in her eyes and as the tears filled her eye she squeezed them shut to try to keep them at bay.
"You can't keep it all in side, Mailee? Bottling it all up won't do you any good. So let them fall with pride." Soveliss spoke gently to her as he wrapped his arms around her. She didn't say anything as she let her tears gently fall from her eyes in silence going down her checks.
"Stop staring at me. I'm way too sober for this," Mailee let out a small hiccup as she wipe away her tears. Mira and Soveliss only skilled at her but was interrupted by a loud male scream. No one moved or commented on the scream for a few moments as their heads shot up to the ceiling.
"You heard that scream as well, right?" Soveliss gave Mira and Mailee a questioning raised eyebrow.
"Yes, Soveliss, we heard it as well." Mailee let a small breath out, "And lords and ladies give me patience or an untraceable handgun." Soveliss smirked at her as Mira pilled something out of her tree trunk.
"Mailee, I may not be a goddess, but i am a lady. However, I believe you would like this then." Mailee turned to stare at the Treant's hands with wide shocked eyes. "This small double-barreled pepperbox is an extraordinary model among people who just want more than the standard." Mailee got up and walked towards the pistol as Mira spoke about the gun. "Its decent weight makes it fairly easy to handle. It has a fair amount of firepower with a nice accuracy."
Mailee soon noticed that this particular double-barreled pepperbox comes with an expensive metal grip, with expensive decorations and a light duty barrel, which could be etched if so desired. "This weapon was originally designed as a test of the designer's abilities, but it soon became a known name across this world and is now in use by both civilians and the military." Mira handed the hand pistol to Mailee. "Its official name is the FT-T3L, but it general goes by its unofficial name: Lightning."
"Thank you, Mira. It beautiful." Mailee turned around and looked at Soveliss with determination. "Lets hunt a witch and find my idiotic little brother." Both Mailee and Soveliss made their way to Mailee's chambers so that she could get some clean clothes on before heading out.
