I hadn't been to work for nearly two days. Katie understood, and told me I could take time for myself to bounce back from such a tragic life event. I was still continuing work from home and aggressively researching any known information about the Watcher. I contacted the original family, the police who conducted the original information, I tried everything. Then, I heard a knock on my front door. I jumped, as I was not expecting anyone to come by.
As I opened the door, there was no one to meet me face-to-face. Instead, there was a single envelope on the ground at my feet.
"Hell no." I said aloud. I glanced to each side of the hall and was unable to see a single person in sight.
I sighed and picked it up, "There's probably some kind of explosive in this, but fuck it! Is that what you want to hear?" I shouted out into the corridor. One of my neighbors who walked up the stairs gave me a sideways look. All I could do was shake my head and close and lock my front door.
I look the open flap and slowly tore it open. One the seal was broken, I tossed the letter onto my kitchen counter and crouched down to prepare myself for any sort of explosion.
There was nothing. I sighed in relief, picking the letter back up.
I pulled the yellowing paper from inside and unfolded it.
Without warning, a painful ringing struck my ears. I stumbled backwards into the wall, my vision doubled.
Once the dizziness subsided, I took a deep breath and tried to read it as slowly as possible.
You have seen us
We are everywhere
We know you can hear our cries
You are not very different
We need your energy
We have your possessions
Come to us and sacrifice your freedom
For a single human soul to roam free
Failure to appear before us after 4 nights
Will result in his early death
I spotted Ryan's signature and bloody thumbprint at the bottom of the page. There was no doubt now. The Watcher took Ryan and knew what I was, using him for bait. He wanted me to join whatever cult he was the leader of. Ryan had heard of my power. He must be so terrified.
I knew what I had to do.
New additions may take time to come. If you have any suggestions please let me know!
