Summary: Your mom thought it was a great idea to invite the neighbor's son over because she thinks you need more friends. At first you thought it was a bad idea, eventually you realize he is nicer than you thought.
Genre: Strangers to friends.
Word count: 1,101 (probably less since I'm counting the A/N)

You were binge watching your favorite show since it has been ages since you last saw it.
Sadly you got interrupted by your mother who didn't even knock on the door.

"Y/N, i want you to spend time with the neighbor, you're always in your room doing nothing. I don't want this to affect your social life." She said

"What do you mean mom? I'm fine. Please don't make me hang out with him, you know I'm awkward with people, overall if they're boys". She just rolled her eyes and completely ignored you.
"Well, too bad, he's already here. Don't bore him please" she said and then signaled someone to come in.

You obviously expected the neighbor. But you didn't remember him like this.
Maybe it was because when you last saw him he was only 10, so we're you tho, and his voice was starting to crack.
But now he was taller, cuter and his voice was deeper.
You figured the bad way, and he noticed when you jumped at the sound of his voice greeting you.

"H-hi" you said back, with goosebumps still in your skin.

"You're already getting along! That's great. See you kiddos" your mother said and then she immediately left.

Great

There was an awkward silence that even the fly in your room could feel.
He was standing in the middle of your room, he seemed as shy and awkward as you were.

That's why you decided to break the silence "so... do you like to plays video games?"
It's not like you were the best at video games, but you really enjoyed playing them. Maybe that could help with the awkwardness.

"Not really, but I'm down to play anything you want." He said while scratching his neck out of nervousness.
"Well, there's a new game called Among Us, have you played it?" You said. He was still standing up, but at least you two were talking which is an advance.

"I've heard of it, but I haven't played it".
"Don't worry I'll teach you" when you said that he smiled. "You can sit here if you want" you said signaling a puff next to your bed.

"I'm Ethan by the way" you can't believe you forgot to introduce yourself, but you're kinda glad he did it first. "I'm Y/N"

After your quick introduction you gave him your iPad and explained the game to him. You were playing in your phone since you didn't have a computer or another ipad.

When you finally started playing Ethan said: "what was I supposed to do if I was the impostor?"
"Are you the impostor?"
"..." there was silence for a second only to be replaced by both of your laughs.
You were laughing so loud that your mom came to check if everything was fine.

You played for quite sometime. You played so long that your eyes began to hurt. That's why you decided to rest and go to the park that was near your houses.

By now Ethan and you were like best friends even though you had just met.
Sometimes they're friendships that are meant to be, and this one seems to be one of those.

When you arrived to the park you two got into the swings and started to chat more:
"Why weren't we friends before?" You said still swinging but looking straight into his eyes.
"We were, you don't remember when we use to play hide and seek?" What he said made you suddenly remember.
"Oh my god! You're right. I remember you and I always hid together! But that was a really long time ago, why did we stop being friends?" You asked concerned that maybe he got mad at you for doing something wrong or maybe he just thought you were annoying.
"I don't really know, since we grew up I guess we thought we started to take interest in different things. But now I see it's the opposite" you just nodded at his words.

Then a grin appeared in your face when you thought of something : "I dare you to go down the slide upside down!"
"Bet, but take my glasses please"

You guys laughed and laughed until Ethan's mother called.
She seemed to be at you're house looking for Ethan since he said: "we're at the park mom...Okay, I'll be there in five"

"We have to go back, my mom is waiting for me" he said looking sad. "Don't worry! We can hang out any other day, just knock on my door." What you said seemed to confort him since he smiled.

When you were leaving the park you forgot that you didn't give Ethan his glasses back.
"Ethan wait" when you said this you were a little behind him, still walking, but not as fast as him. And since you were looking for his glasses in your purse you weren't looking where you were going and it happened...

You guys not only bumped heads when he abruptly turned back to you, but your lips also touched.
It wasn't cute, it hurt more than anything else.
But it still was awkward because both of you knew that it happened.

After some seconds of silence he said:

"We should head back" Ethan said when he felt his phone vibrate in his pocket, signaling him that his mom was waiting for him.

You could see a little blush in his cheeks, but you didn't dare to look straight into his face because he would also notice you were blushing.

Once again it became awkward, and with that awkwardness he left.

He only lived 2 houses away, but you don't think you could face him again.

Someday you two are going to forget about it, but right now you couldn't since he stole your fist kiss without knowing.
