How do you break into someone's house again?

You just find a way to get in safely right? Nothing more nothing less. Now, where would be a window? Or perhaps a lockable door?

Walking around the house he smiled. A balcony.

~~CLAY'S POV~~

What to do?

Walking around his room for a moment he concluded that there was not a damn thing he could do.

Sighing, he continues to look around his room, minus well enjoy himself while he can. His father was coming to the business trip soon, so he would try to bask in the silence.

Sitting on the bottom of his bed he resorted to just thinking. Living in an imagination.

He would always daydream when he was a kid since recurring nightmares plagued him. He couldn't truly dream or let out his imagination because of it.

More was expected of him at this age, so he never had time to daydream either.

And so he started sleeping less and less. The nightmares kept happening so why should he sleep at all?

Why should he sleep if it was only pain? The nightmares always knew what he feared, they knew what made him weak.

So that's why he named himself Dream. Since he always dreamed of dreaming.

Cheesy, right?

Besides, he hated the real name that he was given.

Clay.

It meant that his parents would mold him into the perfect statue that they wanted. Unlike his sister.

Clay was also easily breakable. And he...didn't want to be breakable.

~~GEORGE'S POV~~

George didn't really talk about it that much, but he did know how to pick locks. Well, somebody kind of forced him (*cough* Nick *cough*) to learn how to do it but at least his knowledge would be put to good use.

Swinging the door open he froze, spotting a familiar freckled face.

Dream looked a bit lost in thought as he lightly hummed a song. George didn't know why, but he felt something urge him to do something. To do...anything.

Walking a bit closer to the boy he noticed his friend's eyes were a little red. Almost like he was crying before.

Reaching out a hand to nudge Dream's shoulder, he paused. Instead, he wrapped the other boy in a hug.

" What the hell are you doing here?" Clay murmured causing George to look up.

" I-I don't know, I just felt the need to be here, something just felt off..." George stuttered as he let go of Dream's arm.

" Besides...could you at least thank me for being here? I had to climb onto your balcony since you wouldn't let down your hair, Rapunzel." George huffed causing Dream to lightly chuckle.

" Maybe you should've gone through the unlocked front door." Dream offered. George stuck his tongue out at Dream.

" Who the hell leaves their front door open? You're almost begging to get robbed!" George puffed his cheeks out causing Dream to smile.

They exchanged banter for a moment before the duo fell into silence.

George paused hearing a wind chime again.

A white string was connecting their hearts this time.

This time I'll put something actually useful in the author's note.

The Soul Strings as you know basically connect two soulmates hearts (or more if you're into poly). Depending on the color is the relationship status.

Black meaning one or more of the soulmates are dead. Pink means slowly falling in love. Red meaning both are in love or together. Green means friendship. Grey means strangers. And blue means enemies.

You might be wondering about the wind chime that George hears. Basically, when something from the Soul String is in effect the person will hear their favorite sound. Or it happens when their relationship is elevated.

You also have the soul bond. It basically an after-effect of what your soulmate is feeling. It can also warn you if your soulmate is in danger.

So like if your soulmate was perhaps sad, you would feel a lesser drained feeling. If they're happy then you feel a little joy, etc.
