Part 5

Next day after shift

Brett's point of view
Shift had just finished, there weren't many calls. I was so happy to see my little god baby. She is the most precious little girl. This shift was a little weird with Shay coming back, and Casey was acting weird about something but he assured me he was good. I was walking to go to Casey's quarters to see if he wanted to grab dinner tonight but he wasn't in there. I looked around and didn't see him so I just decided I would call him later on. I was walking out when I saw Casey leaning against my car waiting for me. When he saw me a smile instantly appeared on his face. I smiled back and went up to him, we kissed and then he asked if he could take me to breakfast.

We got seated at the restaurant and then Casey said " I am sorry if I was acting weird last shift. Just with Shay appearing it brought up some weird feelings I guess." "I know. But you can always talk to me, you know that." I said. "always" he said. We enjoyed breakfast and talking with each other and then we both went home to get some sleep.

One week later

Shay's point of view
Today I was starting my first day back at the firehouse, I was nervous but excited. I was ready to jump back in and help the people of Chicago once again. It would be different though without Dawson by my side, but Brett seems great and I can't wait to work with her. I still haven't found out what's going on with her and Casey, I know there is something there, I just don't know what.

Kelly's point of view
Today is Shay's first day back to work, I was excited for her now that she can resume her life again and maybe somehow get back to how it used to be. I am still off of work for now just until we get settled in with Leslie. I don't mind it though because I get to spend time with two of my favorite girls. Shay had just left for work and Stella was still sleeping so I just was hanging out with Leslie

Stella's point of view
I had just gotten up and out of bed I opened the door and I saw the most precious thing. Kelly was sleeping on the couch with Leslie asleep on top of his chest. I took a picture and then I just admired them for a minute. Then went to get some coffee.

I was in the kitchen just thinking about how Leslie is already a week old, I couldn't believe it. It has probably been the longest week of my life but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

At the Firehouse

Brett's point of view
This last week Casey and I had spent a lot of time together, which I enjoyed. Our relationship is different then any other relationship I had been in. He would be the last person I would think of having this kind of feeling with considering he was Dawson's husband, but if i'm not crazy there is something definitely there. Nobody in the firehouse really knew about our relationship except Severide, Stella, and Foster when she was here. I kind of liked it that way though because we are still finding where we are with each other.

I was in the locker room changing out when Shay came in "Good morning partner" she said. "Good morning" I said. "Once you get changed out meet me at the ambo so we can do some inventory before the briefing starts" I said with a smile. "No problem be right out" Shay said.

Nobody's point of view
Everybody in the firehouse hated Stella's replacement, he is such a douche and thinks he's better then everyone. Casey keeps him on a short leash and doesn't let him do much. Everyone was just counting down the days till Kidd comes back. It was time for the morning briefing so everyone headed toward the briefing room waiting for chief to come in. Chief gave everyone there tasks and then introduced Shay as the new paramedic on 61 then he dismissed everyone.

All the companies were on the apparatus floor cleaning, checking equipment, and doing inventory. Brett was showing shay all the updated things on the ambo since she left, showing her the new run sheets, and where everything was at. "Listen, i'm not one of those bossy PIC's that try to contradict everything you do, as long as you do your job correctly and don't cause any havoc then everything will be fine" Brett said. "Thanks. You didn't seem like that type, plus you shouldn't have to worry about me" Shay said.

Casey was next to the truck checking out some tools while Brett was outside the ambo handing Shay the materials to restock. Casey and Brett then just stared at each other with a smile. Shay was wondering what was taking Brett so long to had her stuff so she looked out and saw them staring at each other. Shay had a confused look but just acted normal and called Brett's name to get her attention. Brett then snapped out of her staring moment with Casey and said "sorry. here you go." All the companies had finished their inventory and were just relaxing when they got a call. "Truck 81, Ambulance 61, Squad 3, car accident, 47 South Beach Drive" "you ready?" Brett said to Shay as they were heading towards the ambo. "totally" Shay responded.

They arrived on scene and it was a 2 car accident on the bridge. "Squad take the mini van, 81s got the car." Casey said. "Copy that" Cruz said. "I need a medic" Gallo called out. "Us too" Capp said. Brett then radioed " 61 to main I need another ambo at 47 South Beach Drive." "copy that 61" main responded "Okay. You help squad, i'll take truck" Brett said. "Copy" Shay said.

They got the victims out and off to the hospital then headed back to the house. Shay was grabbing supplies to restock the ambo while Brett was filling out paperwork at the hospital. Brett was getting ready to leave when she saw Severide, Stella, and Leslie. "Oh and to what do I owe the pleasure" said Brett with a chuckle. "Just here for the little one's 1 week check up" Stella said. "One week already. Wow! Brett said while giving Leslie a little kiss. "Where's Shay?" Severide asked. "Restocking the ambo" Brett said. "ahh okay" Severide said. "Catch a good call?" Stella asked. "Nothing special just a car accident, few bumps and bruises, maybe a broken arm. Don't worry you didn't miss anything." Brett said. "That's good. while i'll see you later." Stella said. "Okay. i'll call you tonight to talk about something." Brett said. "Casey" Stella mouthed. Brett nodded her head.

Brett and Shay arrived back at the firehouse and cleaned up the ambo before heading inside. The rest of the shift was pretty peaceful not to many crazy calls.

Shay's point of view
I was getting changed out to head home when I was waking by Casey's quarter and saw him and Brett in there talking. I knew something was going on between them but I just minded my business and went along.

I got home and nobody was in the living room or kitchen so I figured they were still asleep. I put some coffee on then went to shower. When I got out Stella and Kelly were in the kitchen talking and drinking some coffee. "Thanks for the coffee" Severide said. " How was your first shift?" Stella asked. " It was good nothing to wild" I said. "That's good" Stella said. "There is one thing though." I said. "What is it?" Severide asked. "Casey and Brett? are they together or something?" I asked. Severide was about to say something when Stella cut in and said with a small laugh"nope. they are just really close" "oh okay" I said. "I knew I wasn't getting the full truth but maybe it was something they wanted to keep private. "alright while I am going to go take a nap, see you guys in a little bit." Shay said.

Nobody's point of view
"What was that?" Severide asked after Shay left the room. "They don't want anyone knowing about their relationship, especially since they are still figuring things out" Stella said. "Well i'm not just gonna lie to Shay" Severide said. "Well, good thing I did it for you" Stella said with a smirk.
