Harry and Louis
Harry had convinced the nurses to let him and Louis share a room. They were hesitant at first, but agreed. They thought that if Louis were to have another nightmare, that Harry would be right there.
That afternoon Sarah came in to do her daily checks, give meds, and change fluids.
"Afternoon boys! How are we feeling today? Harry?" Sarah turned toward Harry's bed, but he wasn't there. She drew back the curtain slightly where Louis' bed was and both Louis and Harry were asleep, curled up together. She went to tap on Harry's shoulder, but Louis stopped her.
"Please. He hasn't really slept. I kept him up last night, so he deserves a few more minutes. Do me first." Louis whispered. He adjusted slightly, not moving Harry, and let Sarah do her thing.
"Okay fine. But we will have to wake him up eventually." Sarah checked Louis' incision site on his head, which was healing very nicely. There was almost no swelling, which was a very good sign. "Your incision from your surgery is healing very well. No sign of infection of anything. Your final day of antibiotics is today, so maybe you can get some of your energy up."
She continued to do her check on Louis, while Harry shuffled, waking up slowly. He grunted as he opened his eyes, clutching Louis close, pressing right on a bruise.
"Harry, I have a bruise right there. Let go please." He removed Harry's hand off, and gave a nice deep breath.
"Sorry love. I'll go to my bed."
"No it's okay, just watch your hands." He kissed him on the cheek, turning his attention to Sarah. "When can I like, you know, get out of bed? I know I have to stay in this cast for a while, but can't I like start moving?"
"Actually yes! You have a physical therapist scheduled in a little while. They are going to help you get up and learn how to move with the cast. After you're cleared for movement, you'll be able to shower and use the bathroom with help, but at least you'll be able to get up." Sarah gave Louis pain meds and changed his fluids, before moving on to Harry. "Come on Harry. I need to check you too."
Harry sighed, but moved over to his bed, while Sarah started his check.
"Finally! I just want to be able to get up and move. And yeah I really need a proper shower." Louis was eager, but of course was limited until later that day.
Sarah finished up with Harry and turned back towards Louis.
"Yes, but not yet. You have to wait for the therapist okay? Enjoy the day boys. I'll see you later tonight."
Harry and Louis were left by themselves for a little while. Harry showered and got dressed. He was able to wear his own clothes, as it was only his incision on his stomach that they were checking throughout the day.
"You know I wish I could wear my own clothes. This hospital gown is very uncomfortable." He moved around, gesturing how uncomfortable he was.
"I know, but hopefully things will change soon. Once your leg is better, you should be able to too."
They were left for about an hour, until the physical therapist came in, to assist with Louis' movement.
"Hi there! I'm Mitch and I'm going to be your physical therapist." He stuck out his hand, waiting for Louis to follow his gesture.
"Nice to meet you Mitch. If you don't mind, Harry, is going to stay while we do our work." Louis shook his hand and pointed to Harry.
"That's fine. Let's get started." Mitch was a very quiet guy, but he was very sweet. Harry's jealousy was kickstarted, as Mitch touched Louis' waist, but he was just doing his job. "We are going to stand up and make sure you can use the crutches correctly." He wrapped an assist band around his waist, helping Mitch to be able to lift Louis from the bed.
