A squeezing sensation suffocated Hayami's lungs; weighing heavily on her chest. Her pounding heart screamed in her ears overpowering all her sensations. But nothing could compare to the pain Izuku endured. Hayami kicked down the door, eyes immediately falling to his limpened body. Tears burned her eyes and without much of a second thought, she was instantly by his side; ignorant of the other boy in the room.

Her hand brushed away his curly bangs, revealing closed eyes. His face was rather peaceful, scattered with grime and small cuts. Hayami's lips trembled; his poor body was littered with injuries. But she wouldn't cry. She forced her body to abstain, and bottle up her emotions.

Bakugou stayed silent, dwelling on the matter at hand. Despite his lowered head his eyes remained watching Hayami's figure. Taking in every single detail from the shake of her shoulders to her muffled curses. He hated seeing her like this but no words nor actions could console her sorrowful state. After all, he was the root of her problems. Furthermore, admitting he was wrong would mean he accepted defeat, but his pride would never allow it.

Small white bots came through the broken doors, carrying a stretcher towards the duo. Hayami helped lift Izuku onto the stretcher, giving his hand a small squeeze before being carried off to recovery girl's office. Leaving Hayami and Bakugou alone for the time being. Hayami clenched her fists, wordlessly trekking towards Bakugou. He couldn't read her emotions very well but her shadowed eyes expressed rage. Bakugou mentally prepared himself for the lecture of a lifetime but received the most unimaginable response instead.

SMACK

Bakugou's eyes widened, moving a hand to touch his stinging cheek. Despite Hayami's eccentric personality, she was never one to opt for violence. Since they were kids Hayami has chewed him out for the way he treated Deku but never once has she hit him. At least, until now. But when Bakugou locked eyes with Hayami he couldn't find a hint of regret. Her glare was hard and it revealed one singular emotion; hatred.

Just as All Might rounded the entrance Hayami took her leave. She didn't say anything.

Bakugou stared blankly at the ground. His body didn't know how to react. Hayami's response was something he couldn't bring himself to understand. Never before had she looked at him like that, with such pure disgust at his existence. He was scared. Bakugou in many ways was a one-man show, but the one thing he always relied on was Hayami's unconditional support. But now he wasn't so sure.

...

Who was he kidding? He knew for a fact that his ego cost him the most important thing he had. And Hayami's actions were solid proof. He massively fucked up, and there was no going back.

"YOUNG BAKUGOU,"

Bakugou didn't know when All Might came behind him or noticed the big hand on his shoulder.

" LET'S GO REVIEW YOUR RESULTS. WHETHER YOU WIN OR LOSE YOU CAN ALWAYS TAKE AWAY SOMETHING FROM AN EXPERIENCE SUCH AS THIS!! AS LONG AS YOU'RE OPEN TO LEARNING." All Might lectured, but his tone was soft.

All Might guided Bakugou by the shoulders quietly back to the viewing room. Hayami had already found her place back beside Momo, but her face was a bit red from embarrassment. The whole class had witnessed her breaking point. Momo rubbed her back in small circles, giving a sympathetic smile.

Bakugou stood at the back of the room, avoiding everyone.

"WELL THEN," All Might began.

"DESPITE THE RESULTS, THE MVP OF THE BATTLE WAS YOUNG IIDA!!!"

Gasps erupted through the crowd.

"Shouldn't it be one of the heroes instead because they're the winners?" Tsu voiced.
