Ch 12: Hospital Then Home

Previously:
Tears escaped my eyes and I colapsed again. With a hard thud my body hit the ground and I passed out. When I woke up next I was in the hospital. A machine next to me started beeping and I started to freak out. Instantly nurses started rushing in.

"Clear the room!" A nurse yells. Voices fill the room then everything went quiet again. It was silent and dark. I could hear nothing I could see nothing.

Now:

What happened? Am I in the hospital?why am I here?

After what felt like four years I opened my eyes again. Only this time the machines didn't beep. I didn't hear anything. My vision was blurry and my eyes stung when I opened them. The the cold air burned my eyes. After a few minutes of blinking my vision cleared and I seen someone in the room with me. I was in the hospital. And Mel was in my room with me. But she was asleep.

I tried to move but I couldnt. I was scared and the machines started to beep again. She jumped up opened the door and yelled for a doctor. Four doctors ran in at one time. Yelling medical terms that I didn't understand back and forth at eachother. I started to fade out of conscious again and this time I was clamed and awoken by a doctor. After a few minutes 3 doctors left and one stayed behind. She let Mel back into the room.

"Glad to see your awake." The doctor said. "What happened?" Mel asked sitting down. "Ms. Mackenzie here has a heart flutter." The doctor said. "Heart flutter?" I asked looking at her. "Your heart stopped for a few seconds then started again." She said putting something into my IV bag. "So my heart flutters? Could that kill me?" I ask tearing up. "No. Its not fatal. It cant kill you. Unless you are under one month old. Youll live." She said. Sarcastic but serious. "Whats that?" I ask nodding to the fluid shes putting in my IV. "This is a calming agent. Your muscles will relax and you will be able to move better." She said.

"Thank you." I said quietly relaxing against my pillow. "I have a few questions to ask you." She said to me. I nod in responce. "Would you mind stepping out of the room?" She asked to Mel. Mel quietly got up and left the room.

"Alright Ms. Mackenzie." She said sitting down. "Please. Just Skylar doctor." I said. "Alright Skylar. Do you know what happened tonight?" She asked me. "Uh. All I know is an officer came to my house and delivered me very bad news then I went to go to my room but when I got to the stairs I colapsed." I said trying to remember what happened exactly. "You colapsed on the stairs? Or at the bottom of the stairs?" She asked. "At the bottom of the stairs. I had stopped before I tried to go up them." I answered her question.

After a few more questions I sat up and she sat on the end of my bed. Then I had questions I needed answers to. "I have a few questions for you. If you dont mind..." I said crossing my legs. "Ask away." She said putting her note pad down. "What happens when my heart flutters?" I ask cautiously. "When you get anxious ot stressed out your heart speeds up. When your heart gets over 180 beats a minute then your heart basically shuts off for 2 or 3 seconds. Not long enough to do any damage to your body." She said reassuringly.

"Thats good." I said letting out. A small chuckle. "Another question. "What should I do when I start to get overly stressed out or anxious?" "Well. Do what you normally do but keep someone with you when you feel a panic attack coming on." She said. "Okay. Thank you." I said. "Last question. Kinda a two parter... When can I leave? And whats your name?"

"You are free to check out in a few hours. 2 hours Max and I am Doctor Jamie. But you can call me Jamie if you'd like to." Jamie said politely. "I have a few other patients to attend to. But I will be in to check on you every 30 minutes." She said as she got up. Jamie patted my leg and walked to the door. "You've got alot of people here for you. You want them in here?" She asks before she opened the door. "Please let them in." I said and she left.

A few minutes later everyone piled in. I was still sitting up so a few of the guys sat on the bed with me and some people sat while the rest stood. "What happened?" Heidi asked handing me my clothes. "I have a heart flutter." I said remmebering what Doctor Jamie had told me. 30 minutes had passed by quickly. Faster then I thought it would. Jamie came back into the room and took the IV out of my hand. "An hour and a half more then you can go." She said placing a bandage on my hand.

She seen my clothes. "You need help to the bathroom to get dressed?" She asked. I didnt know if I could even walk. "Uh..." I said thinking. "Yeah." I said after a moment. Im glad I said yes to her because as soon as I stood, (or tried to) I almost fell straight to the floor. Arms quickly wrapped around me and I was placed on my feet. Doctor Jamie and Heidi helped me to the bathroom and Heidi helped me get dressed.

After a few minutes I could finally walk a bit. I could walk without needing two people to help me. We walked out of the bathroom. Doctor Jamie was still standing there. "I will be in to check on you in about 30 mimutes. Then you only have 30 more to go." She said then walked away. We walked into the room and I sat back on the bed.

"Why didnt you tell us you had a heart flutter?" Ian asked. "I just found out." I said putting my socks on.

After 30 minutes passed Jamie came back in with some shots. "I need to check your blood pressure and give you some medicine. These syringes have a relazing agent and a sleep agent in them." She said as she checked my blood pressure. "A bit high." She said wiping my arm off. "So when will this kick in?" I ask. "Not too long from now. Youre being discharged from the hospital so you are free to leave when im done." Jamie said giving my my last shot. "Thank you." I said as she put a couple bandages on my arm where she game me the shots.

I put my shoes on and we left. When we got to the car I was tired. The medicine was kicking in alot faster then I thought I was tired and exhausted. I wanted to forget tonight. Act like it never happened. Well... Some of it at least.

I soon fell asleep after about 15 minutes of being in the car. I wasnt sure what time it was. But I didnt care. All I know Is I was happy to be arourd my people. The only people I had left to call family.

The last thing I remember is the feeling of being picked up. Then everything went dark again. I was home. I was safe.

This chapter was kinda sad. Such a good day ruined by such bad news. Im just happy that Skylar is okay.
