I lean against the railing, looking out at the grounds. Draco steps beside me, and I move so my forearms are leaning on the railing. He steps close to me and I lean into him, feeling exhausted. I turn to look up at Draco and the moonlight silhouettes his strong features.
I look down again. My breath falters when I go to fidget with my ring, only to remember I threw it off the tower. I feel Draco shift before he takes my hand. A cold ring is slipped onto my finger, making me forget how the ring Id worn for two years is now in the black lake.
"Here."
"Draco, you don't have to-"
"Anything to help you, y/n." He says with a smile. I find myself smiling back at him.
"You ready to go to bed?"
"No.. not yet." I sniffle, everything rushing back.
"Hey, hey. We can sit out here for as long as you want."
"Thank you, for being here." Draco wraps his arms around me and I sit there, appreciating the warmth.
He pulls me back to the wall and we sit again, this time I'm in between his legs, leaning on his chest, my face tucked into his neck. I'm sideways against him, and my hands end up on his chest.
"It was just a sweater..." I mutter out. "I should've kept my mouth shut."
"No, y/n. We both know it was more than that." I sigh.
"How about this, i'll give you my jersey. If he thinks a sweater isn't a big deal, he shouldn't say a word about the jersey."
"You don't have to, Draco."
"If it'll make you feel better." I sigh.
"There's no arguing with you about this, is there?" The vibrations of his laugh are calming.
"Here, sit up for a second." He pulls his jersey off, revealing an undershirt. He slides the jersey on me and it's warm. All I smell is him; expensive cologne, green apples, mint, and vanilla.
I lean back on him again and my exhaustion hits as the adrenaline runs out. My eyes are heavy and his breathing and the steady rhythm of his heart lulls me to sleep.
*Dracos POV*
As the shaky girl falls asleep on my chest, the image of her face is all I can think about.
Her red, puffy eyes and the tears streaking down her face. The way her face contorts in pain with each sob. The moonlight shining off her tears. Even in misery, she is...stunning.
I run my hands through her hair and stare at the stars. I said I would stay away, but here I am, falling for her more than ever. I close my eyes, the cool breeze refreshing.
Footsteps approach and I sit up, on alert.
Granger rounds the corner, with a mat in hand, her wand lighting the way.
"Malfoy. Have you seen-?" I cut her off with a quick shhh, pointing down to the sleeping form in my arms. She nods.
"Should we wake her-"
"No, I'll carry her. Poor thing sobbed her eyes out." I sit up, and cradle her in my arms. Standing up, she's light in my arms and I carry her with ease. We start walking in silence.
"What happened? Harry didn't say a word."
"They got in a fight and he said he loved her. He's been flirting with Ginny for months now. Caught them snogging in the halls a few weeks ago and told Y/n but she didn't believe me." Hermione sighs.
"That's what I feared. Malfoy... Why are you helping her?"
"Like Id tell you." She sighs yet again. We reach the Gryffindor common room and Hermione whispers the code.
"Hang on a second, I'll be right back." She steps into the common room and I take the opportunity to say goodnight to y/n.
"Goodnight, beautiful." I whisper. She stirs slightly and I plant a kiss on her forehead. Hermione walks back out with Ron and he gently takes her out of my arms.
"Thank you, Malfoy." Hermione says, and Ron nods. Walking down to the dungeon, what just happened hits me.
I fall asleep, her on my mind.
Her.
Damn it.
*READERS POV*
The next morning the light hits my eyes painfully. Opening them slowly, the events of last night hit me. I slowly sit up, feeling weak.
Thankful it's the weekend, I stand and walk to the bathroom in the girls dorms. I look pitiful. Eyes red and puffy still. Hair tangly.
Dracos jersey is draped on my figure, oversized on me. It's... cute. I smell it and sigh deeply.
I take a brush to the ratnest on my head and brush my teeth. Splashing cold water on my face, I hold a cold rag against my eyes. Walking back to my dorm, I see Hermione sitting on the edge of her bed.
"Hey... I heard what happened. How are you?" I sigh.
"I'm getting there. It's.. I didn't love Harry. But the fact that he played me hurts like hell. That i'm not enough for him...." I sigh. Hermione nods.
"Harry is just confused. He's already gotten yelled at by me and Ron, the twins as well." I nod.
"Let's go get you some food." I nod. "His jersey looks cute on you, by the way. This brings a smile to my dry lips.
I walk into the great hall, going with Hermione to where the twins are sitting with Ron and my other friends.
"Hey, Y/n!" I'm hit with a chorus of greetings, making me smile.
"Hey guys." I say weakly. I feel two sets of eyes on me. I see Harry staring out of the corner of my eye, his gaze full of guilt and confusion.
Draco stands, walking over to me. George scoots over and Draco half sits on the bench beside me.
"Hey, Y/n." He says with a smile. I hug him tightly.
"Thank you for last night..." I whisper. He smiles.
"I wanted to check on you, after yesterday." He shoots a glare over my shoulder.
"I'm okay, thank you, Draco." He nods and stands, patting my shoulder as he walks away.
Those blue grey eyes keep locking with mine and I have so many emotions.
I go about my day and he fills my thoughts.
Him.
Damn it.
