"Heads up!" Amari shouted as she tossed a scrunched up ball of paper at Spencer. The distracted genius barely registered what she said before he saw a ball of white soar over his head and hit Hotch on the shoulder.
JJ and Morgan, who were previously snickering at Reid not paying attention as Amari crumpled the ball of paper, were now sitting silently at their desks, watching with wide as as Hotch turned around.
"Amari." Aaron growled, his usual frown deepening as he glared at the young agent.
Amari gulped as her boss glared threateningly right at her, sinking slowly down into her seat as his gaze didn't waver.
"Oh shiiit." Spencer said softly from opposite Amari, knowing that Hotch wouldn't be able to hear him.
Amari scowled at Spencer before glancing back fearfully at Hotch. There were very few instances when she was genuinely scared of him, and this time was one of them.
"My office. Now." He said coolly and stalked off in the direction of his office.
The other team members could all be heard taking in a shark breath, but Amari looked a little confused. He didn't sound angry? She quietly scampered up to his office, noticing that he was seated on his couch and not his chair, where he'd usually do the reprimanding from. Amari closed the door behind her and walked cautiously towards him.
"Okay, this is weird. You're obviously not going to reprimand me for throwing paper around, so what don't you want the team the hear?" Amari narrowed her eyes at the dark haired man in front of her as she went to sit next to him.
Aaron sighed, "It would be nice if you were just a normal civilian and not a profiler."
Amari snorted, "I'm sure."
Aaron rolled his eyes but carried on. "It's um," he cleared his throat, fiddling with his tie and quickly loosening it before he spoke again. "It's Haley."
Amari folded her legs underneath her as she shifted her body to face him, "What about her?" She'd had dinner with the Hotchners last month and she had to say that Jack was the sweetest little boy ever.
Aaron stayed quiet and after surveying his forlorn face for a moment, Amari's eyes almost bugged out of her eyes when she realized where his train of thought was going.
"You don't think-?"
Aaron shrugged, not knowing what to believe. "We were fighting yesterday when the house phone rang. I ignored it for a little while before it started to irritate me I reached for it and she flinched. Then it stopped ringing and immediately after, her phone started ringing and she left."
Amari frowned, "Aaron, that could've meant anything. It could've been anyone."
"I know." He said sadly. "It's just, I'm never home and she's all alone with Jack and it would make sense that she'd look for affection el-"
