The flight back from Chicago was...rough. Derek was barely speaking and the rest of the team were exhausted. Amari sighed as she fiddled with the hem of her sweater sleeve as she roamed her eyes around the jet.
She caught Derek's eye for a second, but he dropped their eye contact as soon as it had happened, casting his eyes down to the floor instead. She furrowed her brows but said nothing as she sat in the heavy silence, feeling as though she was being swallowed by the tension that wafted through the jet.
"You look like you have a lot on your mind." Aaron spoke as he came to sit next to her.
A small grin formed on Amari's lips. "Is this yet another attempt at calling my head big?"
Aaron scoffed, "If it were?"
Amari smiled as she bumped his shoulder with hers. "Then I'd tell you that your thick hair is doing very little to hide that ginormous noggin you have there."
Aaron scrunched his eyes closed as Amari knocked lightly on the side of his head.
"Oh please, you love my hair." He smirked playfully at her. "What was it you used to say? Oh Aaron, it's so not fair that you have the nicer hair. I just love your hair." His voice grew high pitched as he mocked her.
Amari smacked his shoulder, "Shut up, I did not sound like that."
"Sure." Aaron narrowed his eyes as he looked down at her.
Amari rolled her eyes and trained her gaze once again on the crestfallen man who was sitting by himself towards the back of the jet. Aaron followed her gaze and watched as Morgan shifted in his seat, ducking his head down as he put his headphones on.
"So, what's going on between you two?"
Amari looked up at him, pouting slightly. "I'm pregnant with his child."
Aaron's mouth dropped open and she watched as his skin lost its colour.
"Like, a-actually, because I—"
Amari interrupted him with a soft giggled, "No, you oaf."
Aaron rolled his eyes as he pulled Amari's hair in retaliation. She just placed her hand over her heart in mock surprise and then sighed as she leaned against the arm rest that separated the two of them.
"I don't know. I feel like he's getting kind of distant."
Aaron nodded, "Well, that's to be understandable. You did just get back into a relationship, which isn't with him, I might add."
Amari looked up at him, her wide eyes sucking him into the misery she was feeling. "Right."
"Unless, you feel something for him?"
