(1) ~Come With Me~

Kazuichi grunted at the pain in his legs as he dragged himself across the sidewalk. He didn't know where he was going, he just needed to get away from where he was. Now that he was out of his house and about a mile down the sidewalk, his adrenaline was starting to wear off.
He collapsed to the ground and huffed. This is the end he thought. He had run away from his dad's house, he was done with the abuse and the pain, but he couldn't go any further and he would be found. He decided to rest and see if he could keep going once he felt better. He pulled a water bottle put of his bag and he cracked it open. He drank the water quickly and pressed himself against the wall he was leaning on so he could catch his breath. He was sore, but it seemed like he could keep going soon.
Suddenly he heard the sound of leafs crinkling, like they were being stepped on. He looked around, he saw a figure coming towards him in the dark. The sun was setting behind them, so he couldn't see it very well, but he knew that the only person it could be was his father coming to end him.
Kazuichi curled into a ball to protect his face. The sound of footsteps stopped next to him. Something soft and furry brushed against his face. it didn't seem like the usual torture his dad would inflict upon him, so out of curiosity, he looked to see a fat orange hamster sniffing his face, it looked familiar, he had definitely seen it before.
"Heh heh, it seems to have taken a liking to you, if my devas like you then you are accepted by me mortal" the person above him laughed.
"Gundham?" Kazuichi said, confused. Gundham smiled at him awkwardly,
"We have not been friends in the past, mortal Kazuichi, but I have no issues with any mortal who gains my devas favor."he explained. Kazuichi sat up and picked up the orange hamster, who seemed to be sleeping at this point.
"Cham-p, has the power to judge the hearts of others, I apologise for my previous behavior towards you mortal" Gundham apologised.
"It is strange to sit here during the night, please explain to me why you are not at your home." Gundham asked. Kazuichi froze,
"Well.... I can't stay there anymore, I need to find somewhere else to go, so I need to go do that" Kazuichi claimed. He tried to get up but a sharp pain shot through his leg. Gundham noticed, he had many animals in his care and he could recognize when a creature was in pain. He was not yet very comfortable with Kazuichi, but he felt bad for him.
"You may stay in my den of destruction until you have recovered from your ailments mortal" he offered.
"What ailments? There's nothing wrong with me!" Kazuichi deflected.
"Spending the night on the cold hard concrete does not sound ideal, does it? please accept my offer" Gundham said. Kazuichi reluctantly agreed. Gundham motioned for Kazuichi to follow him. Kazuichi walked normally a few places before limping. Even though he was being him, Gundham noticed the he was in pain. Gundham turned around,
"Let me carry your bag" he demanded. Kazuichi was about to protest, but he was very tired. He handed Gundham the backpack and he put it on.
Gundham then picked up Kazuichi himself. He swept him up into his arms easily.
"Hey what are you doing" Kazuichi yelped.
"It will take longer to get to my den if you are limping the whole time!" Gundham exclaimed.
"B-But--" Kazuichi started.
"Do not fret mortal, you are not big enough to be such a burden that I am slowed down." Gundham said, not even realising that that could be considered insulting to Kazuichi.
"I'm not small" Kazuichi grumbled. He thought this was weird, but it would be good if he didn't have to walk. Gundham didn't seem to be having a hard time carrying him either, so what he said did hold some truth, but less so because Kazuichi was small, but more so because Gundham was surprisingly strong.
Gundham's house was about half a mile away from where he found Kazuichi. He set Kazuichi down at his front doorstep. Gundham unlocked the door and let Kazuichi in. The house was surprisingly clean compared to his Kazuichi thought to himself. The house smelled like lavender air freshener. Gundham walked into the kitchen and grabbed a peach from the fruit bowl. He took a bite out of it and let the devas nibble on it too. Kazuichi was looking at him.
"If you wish to eat there is more fruit, or more food in the fridge" Gundham explained. Kazuichi opened the fridge, there was alot of vegetables, and tofu stuff.
"What are you a vegan or something?" Kazuichi asked.
"Mhmm" Gundham mumbled through a bite of his peach. Kazuichi shut the fridge and took one of the peaches from the bowl. Gundham got up and walked down the stairs to his basement. While Kazuichi never went into his basement because it was filthy and dark, Gundham's basement was well lit, clean, and filled with many animals enclosures. He opened a cage and the devas shuffled into it. He then opened another bigger cage and put a piece of the peach into it. Tho large mice looking animals scurried out of a little hammock and started eating the peach.
"Those are big mice!" Kazuichi gasped.
"They're rats! The black one is Saki Dark Angel, and the spotted one is Luka Ice Queen" Gundham announced. They were cuter than Kazuichi thought rats were.
"These two are under my care while I find them a mortal to live with permanently" Gundham explained.
Gundham also gave some of the fruit to a hedgehog and some in another enclosure, but Kazuichi didn't see the animal inside.
After Gundham finished feeding the animals, they went upstairs to Gundham's bedroom. His room had grey walls and lots of pictures of animals taped up to them. Gundham went to the bathroom to change into his nightwear. Kazuichi looked around, surprisingly, he didn't find any hidden animals anywhere.there was a bookshelf with a lot of fantasy novels, very fitting.
Gundham came back in a black tank top and soft looking blue pj pants. He also took off his special earing and put it in a drawer next to his bed.
"This request might sound odd, but will you let me check your injuries?" Gundham asked. Kazuichi thought for a second,
"I'd rather not..." Kazuichi said. Gundham was silent for a second,
"Are you going to sleep in that? You are wearing clothes under, so you should remove it" Gundham said, gesturing to Kazuichi's yellow jumpsuit. Kazuichi realized he was right, so he reluctantly unzipped his mechanics uniform and took it off.
The bruises on Kazuichi's legs, arms, and chest had darkened. He was bleeding from a few spots, where the blood was sticky and starting to dry. Gundham gave Kazuichi a shocked look.
"O-Oh" he gasped. He grabbed some wound wash and some bandages from out of his closet. Kazuichi started, crying silently. Gundham sat him down on his bed and started washing the blood off of him.
Gundham bandaged the cuts and gave him another tank top to change into. He noticed under the wounds there were more scars. Gundham touched one with his hand, he decided not to ask tonight.
"... You can stay at my home as long as you like" Gundham offered. Kazuichi was silent,  he layed down on Gundham's bed and closed his eyes. Gundham layed down next to him and turned off the lamp.
They were both still for a few minutes. When Kazuichi thought Gundham was asleep he scooted closer and snuggled against him. Gundham put his arm around him and they both fell asleep.
