someone's here (what do i do?)

i never expected someone to come in.
i thought i was alone here. me and my books.
but the doors made loud creaks while i lounged in my chair.
my heart beat against my chest. my feet sprang to life.
stalking like a hungry hyena.
no one. i saw no one.
i heard a noise. i swear i did. 

maybe i'm just hearing things.
after all, i am alone. no one to talk to.
no one to hear my voice.
no one to hear me when i cry out.
it's fine. it's been fine.
i deal.
but who came? i thought i was alone.
the word is loud in my head.
alone.
another noise. shuffles behind a shelf.
my body moved quick, and i saw their face. 

her face. she looked rugged.
her clothes were torn. her hair was matted.
her bottom lip quivered.
i had no idea what to do. (what was i supposed to do?)
then she leapt at me. her hands clawed at my sides
and she wept. she kept hanging on to me.
i didn't know what to do. i didn't --
