Present day
Rebecca
My mouth feels dry as I stare at my daughter, I want to give her hug and loads of kisses and just explain that what I did was for good but I can't move or speak.
"We can't look after her anymore, also you need to pack up your stuff and clear out your room..."
"Why?"
"Well I know we're both a little old but I'm pregnant!"
"No..."
I stood up from my chair and looked between John, Millie and my mother.
"Come on Millie lets get you out of here."
She took my hand and I looked back at my mother and John one last time before leaving. I look down at my daughter and I don't know what to do or to say, I don't even have anywhere I can take her.
"My superhero..."
Her little voice speaks from beside me, I felt tears start to form in my eyes as I look down at her. She looks just like me, she might even pick up my accent if she spends enough time with me.
"You saved me..."
"How?"
"Well your my Momma and I don't like John."
I look down at her, I'm so glad she doesn't call him Dad. I think I might actually be sick if she did, I don't know how I feel that I'm now walking the streets with a little three year old girl. I don't even know her, don't get me wrong I would've loved her to be with my little girl from the day I gave birth but John took that away from me. Like he took a lot of other things from me.
"Grandma told me a lot about you..."
"Oh yeah?"
"She said that you are pretty and kind, I think she was telling the truth."
For a three year old she can speak better than me.
"Really? That's probably the nicest thing grandma has ever said about me! You agree?"
"Yeah...I've dreamed about this."
"Sorry if I'm not living up to expectations princess, you've caught me at a bad time..."
"How old are you?"
"I'm 18 going on 19. How old are you?"
"3!"
She put up three fingers as well, I've missed so many precious moments with my little girl maybe I'll finally get to make some but I don't want to put her in danger and nowadays I'm like a walking magnet for trouble.
"What's your favourite thing to eat?"
"Pizza!"
"So how about me and you grab a pizza and you can tell me about everything I've missed?"
"Yeah!"
She skipped happily alongside me until we reached the pizza parlour, I quickly checked my wallet to make sure I had enough.
"How many for a table?"
"Just 2!"
"Right come on in and we'll get you seated."
"Up?"
I looked down at my daughter who had her arms out for me to pick her up, I did as she asked and placed her down on the seat opposite me.
"So there's a lot!"Seth
"Do you know how much this'll cost?!?"
My mother asked furiously as she paced the living room.
"Just take it out of my allowance but please just let Becky stay, I don't want her out on the streets."
"I don't care where she is, but she ain't coming back here."
"Please Mom! You don't understand!"
"Then make me understand..."
"If I tell you, I can guarantee you'll make me stay away from her even more. I feel like I can't talk to you, you and dad disappear for 3 months and then when you do come back all you do is shout. You don't ask how I am? Or how much I've missed you both? Or if I'm struggling with school? No your first thought goes to the negative!"
I walked away from my mother and upstairs to my room, I slammed my door which I know I'll be reprimanded for later. I pick up my phone and scroll through insta, I find it becoming increasingly boring so I click off it. I click onto my contacts and I scroll until I find Becky's, I toy with the idea of ringing her before I actually do it. It rings three times before she answers.
"Hiya! How's the mother?"Rebecca
I felt my heart skip a beat when I heard him say 'mother'.
"What?"
"How's your mother?"
I let out a practically inaudible sigh of relief.
"Not too good, she's properly kicked me out! I have nowhere to go..."
I looked down at my daughter who was about speak and I placed a finger onto my lips and she looked at me funny.
"Becky just come over."
"I really don't fancy being shouted at by your mother again..."
I'm lying again, I don't actually fancy being shouted at by Seth for having a daughter I never told him about.
"Just come round, I need to see you."
"I left like an hour ago..."
"Please I need you~"
I could hear the hurt in his voice as he spoke so I caved in.
"I'll be right round."
