Chapter XIII

Rogues

"A-Alpha." Someone knocked on my door.

"What?" I growled at them, still tired.

"We caught another rogue but she claims that she'll only talk to you." I heard a voice.

"Fine. I'm coming." I rolled out of bed and  went to the bathroom for a quick shower and clothes change.

I walked out and I saw Jax coming towards me.

"Shouldn't you be home? It's pretty early." I asked him.

'Mate shouldn't be home without protection!' Alexander, my wolf, yelled in my head.

'I know but she's not alone. I'll still send him home.' I told him, hoping to satisfy and quiet him.

When I heard no snarky comeback from him, I knew it'd worked.

"Alec mind linked me about a rogue so I came to help capture them." He shrugged.

"Well you've caught her. Now go home." I told him.

"Are you- Now!" I used my Alpha voice on him.

"Okay, okay!" he raised his hands up in surrender before backing away, going back home.

I went down to the cells, walking past the previously captured rogues, to the latest one.

"Alpha Amory, what a pleasure to see you." The rogue spoke with a wicked smile on her face.

"What the hell were you doing on my land?" I asked her.

I wanted this to be quick. I missed Danielle and I just wanted to see her and hug her.

"Now, now, that's no way to greet a lady. Aren't you going to at least say hi or something before we get down to business?" she stood up looking me in the eye.

'How dare she?! Does she wish to die? She must not know who we are!' Alexander growled in my head at the disrespect and I agreed with him.

I gripped her throat and brought her forward causing her face to slam against the iron bars laced with wolfsbane.

"Tell me what you're doing here. Now! I don't have time for your filthy games." I growled each word out.

She struggled against the bar, only causing the wolfsbane to spread. "This is only the beginning. When this is over, you'll learn not to steal other people's mates." She grounded out.

My hand tightened around her neck at the mention of Danielle. "What the fuck are you talking about? She's my mate! Mine!" I yelled at her.

"Are you a hundred percent sure about that?" she smirked.

I threw her back against the wall and walked out.

'Let me at her! I'll show her who we truly are!' Alex growled in my head, yearning to be let out.

'No!' I yelled at him to shut him up.

"Keep a close eye on your mate. She can be gone, just like that." I heard her yell at me.

I fisted my hands and left the cells.

What the hell is going on?

We've had more rogue attacks, now than ever before.

Jax, where is Danielle? I mind linked him.

She left the house to come see you, she should be arriving by now. He answered back.

I could smell her scent. Vanilla and lilies.

I ran to the door and opened it, there she was. Looking absolutely beautiful.

"Hey.." she spoke quietly.

"What are you doing here?" I asked her, moving so she could get in.

"Um, I-I don't know." she stuttered nervously, walking in the house.

"Is something wrong?" I closed the door and looked at her.

"N-No. I um- I just wanted to- to see you, I guess." she kept her eyes on the floor.

She's so innocent and small.

I chuckled, "Why're you so nervous babygirl?" I lifted up her chin to meet my eyes.

Her eyes were so lively and green. A girl like her was rare, red hair and green eyes.

"Do I make you nervous?" I asked, crouching down to her level.

She just nodded and I laughed.

"Why?" I asked, smiling.

"You're so important and confident and it scares me sometimes." She shrugged.

"But you're just as important aren't you? Without you, the pack is nothing. I am nothing." I spoke honestly.

We all needed her. Especially me. I couldn't lead the pack if I didn't have my mate next to me.

"Thank you." she smiled.

"Anytime princess." I kissed the tip of her nose as she blushed deeply.

"Alpha, there's a problem down in the cells." Alec said running towards Danielle and I.

"I'm coming." I pinched the bridge of my nose and stood up.

"I'll come with you." Danielle gripped onto my arm.

"No. I don't trust any one of them down there. Who knows what they could do to you." I growled out.

"I can take care of myself, better than you think." she pouted.

"Please." she pushed out her bottom lip even more.

Fucking hell this woman.

"Fine but you're staying next to me the whole time." I muttered as my thumb dragged her lip down allowing it to bounce back up.

"Thank you!" she shakily breathed.

"Are you okay?" I grabbed her arms and she looked up at me and smiled before nodding.

We walked down to the cells and she latched onto my arm.

As we got closer, we could see the chaos that was going on.

A rogue brown wolf was growling at three guards trying to sedate it.

The rogue locked its eyes onto my mate and growled before charging at her.

"Totis viribus dejiciat." Danielle yelled out and the wolf fell limp and just laid on the floor.

'Mate is powerful!' Alex yelled in my mind.

"What was that?!" I turned to her and looked her in the eyes.

"I-I-I can explain. P-Please don't be mad." I could see the tears welling up in her.

"I could never be mad at you. I just want to know what that was. Don't cry please." my heart clenched seeing her in pain like this.

"Okay. Can we talk somewhere else though?" she asked.

"Of course." I carried her up in my arms and took her to our room.

"Talk to me baby." I looked at her.

"I'm a witch."
