Chapter 12
“I’m so excited. I’m so excited.” I was saying over and over again as Dane got closer and closer to Allison.
“Can you shut up?” Brian mumbled.
“I’m still dropping you off at Jessie’s house?” Dane asked over his shoulder at my brother who was sulking in the backseat.
He nodded.
He hadn’t told her that we were coming.
Well, we hadn’t really told anyone that we were coming, except for Dane.
But Brian was planning on surprising Jess to make up whatever fight they were in the middle of.
I was going home to our house that hadn’t been occupied for three weeks. I was going to shower. And then my uncle was picking me up and we were going to UT.
I was beyond excited.
It was 7 in the morning, Dane was half asleep, Brian was still pissed off at Jess despite the fact that he was about to make up with her in about 5 minutes, and I was ecstatic that we were back in Allison.
“So text me when you get back from UT, and we’ll head out to my place. I told everyone I’m having a party, for no other reason than the fact that we didn’t lose yesterday’s game. We tied. We didn’t lose.” Dane said, pulling into Jessie’s driveway. “How’d you guys do?”
“We won.” Brian mumbled as he got out of the car.
Dane sped out of the driveway and was already around the corner before we saw Brian go into the house.
“You guys are actually good I take it?” Dane raised his eyebrows, turning up the radio.
“We’re decent.” I shrugged. “We’ve been getting lucky, that’s for sure. We’re no state material though.” I shook my head.
“Sucks. We’re bombing the season already and it’s only been a month.” Dane shook his head, whipping into my driveway.
It was a wonder the boy ever passed his drivers test.
“I’ll see you later.” I said as I got out of the car.
I pulled my bag over my shoulder as I walked up the familiar front steps.
The house was dark and boiling hot, just the way it always is.
I flipped on the lights, heading down the hall towards the thermostat.
I turned the air on full blast before heading down the hall to my room.
By 9, I was all showered and dressed.
I actually took time to make my hair look somewhat presentable.
I was wearing khaki pants, a nice brown belt, and a blue polo.
My uncle honked from the driveway and I excitedly grabbed my phone, wallet, and Allison Football sweatshirt before running out to meet him.
“Someone’s eager.” He laughed, raising his eyebrows as I slid into the seat.
“Let’s go let’s go let’s go.” I said happily, quickly buttoning up.
“Yea great to see you too Jason. It’s been what, a month? Totally doesn’t require a formal hello.” Uncle Bobby rolled his eyes, making me laugh.
“Hi Uncle Bobby. How are you?” I raised my eyebrows as he carefully backed out of the driveway.
“I’m excellent, thanks for asking! And how are you?”
