Chapter 20
"Where's Carly?" I said quickly, sitting down at the lunch table.
Nobody replied.
Most people just shrugged, shaking their heads.
I frowned, still slightly worried that Carly hadn't been at work this morning.
She hadn't been in homeroom either.
And now she wasn't at lunch.
"Don't you know where she is? Weren't the two of you just with her yesterday?" Hank raised his eyebrows.
"Well yea we drove back yesterday and she was fine. Maybe she's sick or something she did seem a little bit quiet towards the rest of the ride." Brian shrugged, raising his eyebrows at me.
"Yea that's because she was texting Jess and had made a new best friend or whatever and was sad." I laughed, shaking my head.
"What time did you drop her off?" Nolan asked curiously.
"Like midnight I think we got there." I shrugged, looking at Brian for agreement.
He nodded. "Yep midnight."
"Maybe she's still asleep?" Hank raised his eyebrows.
"No, no I doubt it." I said, looking around the table. "Wait where are the girls?" I asked, noticing that Amy and Lindsay weren't there.
It had taken me a moment to adjust to being back in Michigan without the usual people in Allison.
Hank shrugged.
"Maybe they all skipped and went shopping or some shit." He laughed, taking a bite of his sandwich.
"No... No something isn't right..." I shook my head, a sick feeling in my stomach.
"Whoa hold on a minute your face." Hank suddenly said, looking right at me.
"Kent." I replied nonchalantly, waving him off.
"You should've been there it was the best. First Kent was in our booth at Danny's, right? So Jason makes him leave with just a look basically, then the next day Kent shows up with a black eye and Jason's face is bruised but nobody really knows what happens. Then Kent has the nerve to show up to the barn party, and Katie's not even with him, and he starts shit with Jason. Carly even got a good punch in as they were leaving." Brian laughed. "Jess talked about it constantly."
I rolled my eyes, still just not feeling right about Carly's absence.
"Do you guys know where Carly is?" I asked Amy and Lindsay as they got to the table.
"No, sorry. Wasn't she just with you guys?" Amy frowned, pulling out her lunch.
"Not today." I shook my head, pulling out my phone to text her.
*Call me pls xx*
"So what'd you guys get up to in Texas?" Hank asked curiously. "Besides the thing with Kent obviously."
"Uh... Thursday we slept all day and then hung out at the diner. Friday I cleaned our house while Brian and Carly were conveniently not there to help. Then Friday night we had the game and the party. Saturday we did the usual. Sunday we did the usual. Then drove home yesterday. Not very eventful." I shrugged.
"And how did Carly react to your pregnant ex girlfriend?" Hank laughed, raising his eyebrows.
Amy choked on her lunch, looking at me with wide eyes.
"Not my kid!" I exclaimed quickly. "And not my ex girlfriend!" I added, glaring at Hank.
"Okay yea whatever but how did Katie and Carly interact?" He asked with a laugh.
