"hey. how are you?" jack asks me as i place my phone up on the counter so that i don't have to hold it.
"i've been better but it's my fault so i can't complain," i shrug.
"don't say that. no one expected him to do that. you reacted in the moment."
"yeah... i just... i haven't talked to him at all. i've ignored his texts and calls. so i can't be mad that he was with some other girl," i look down and fight back tears.
"ella, i called because i knew you wouldn't call daniel and talk to him about it. he shouldn't have gone to some random party and gotten drunk. but he was in pain and i couldn't exactly stop him from going, so i went with him. but... when he kissed the girl..." he pauses, debating on whether he should tell me or not.
he continues, "they kissed and after a second he staggered backaway from her and he started crying. he was so embarrassed. i ran over to him and took him back to the hotel we were staying at. he kept going on about how stupid he is and how he regretted kissing her. he misses you and i think you should talk to him. he hasn't been the same since you left... and neither have you."
after a few seconds i nod, "i'll talk to him. eventually."
