CHAPTER TEN

Sometimes in life we try to run from our problems, our past but they just keep coming back. It seemed as if everything stopped as Gary pointed his gun at Theo.

The people in the restaurant all ran out for their lives when he took out the gun.

"So you didn't think I was serious when I said that you were mine and that I'll be back for you?"

"Please don't do this. Just leave me alone."

"Baby, you know I can't do that. You come with me right now or lover boy will die."

I looked over at Theo and saw that he was just standing there without any fear in his eyes. He looked as if this wasn't the first he as been held up with a gun.

"She's not going anywhere with you. She's my woman so you better take your mind off her and leave before something bad happens to you."

He laughed.

All Gary did was laugh at Theo.

"Your one brave lad you know. I'm the one with the gun and you are making threats. Oh boy this is getting more exciting."

He then turned to me with a smirk on his face and an raised eyebrow.

"Zuri sweetie I brought you a present."

He said and looked behind me.

If I thought that seeing  Gary was the worst thing that happened to me I was wrong.

There stood the man that gave me nightmares. The man that left me feeling the worst about myself for years. Made me attempt suicide once. If it wasn't for my adopted mother I don't know where I'd be right now.

After my mother died, my father turned his anger towards me and made my childhood a living hell. As if that wasn't enough Gary made everyone afraid of being around me.

Now here he is standing with the biggest smile on his face as if he won the lottery.

"Zuri pumpkin."

"Don't call me that."

My voice was shaky but I didn't want him to realize I was scared.

"Oh come on sweetie pie. Don't you miss daddy?"

"Don't come near me."

"That's not how you are suppose to talk to your dad now is it?"

"Enough with the chit chat we have to leave the police may be on there way now."

Gary said causing my father's whole aura to change. He looked the same as he did everytime he was going to hit me.

"Zuri come let's go home now and dont make me force you."

"I'm not going any-"

My heart rate picked up when I heard Gary lifting the safety on the gun.

"Be a good girl and come with us or I swear to God I will shoot him."

He threatened pressing the gun harder in Theo's back. I sucked in a heavy breath and looked in his eyes. He shook his head and mouthed a no.

'I'm sorry'

I mouthed to him.

"Ok I'll go with you."

They looked at each other and grinned.

My father grabbed me and Gary pushed Theo to the ground. Even with Theo's built body he was able to push him down. A shot rang out through the empty restaurant as Gary shoot Theo on his thighs.

Theo cried out and was breathing hard.

"You son of a b*tch!"

"We can't have following us now can we?"

I didn't realize I was cry until my vision blurred with tears.

I felt a hard hit on my head and then I blocked out.

Theo

No I can't let them take her. I tried to stand but the pain in my foot didn't allow me to.

I can't believe I let her down.

They disappeared out of my line of sight and two minutes later the cops arrived.

I must get her back. And I will.
